I had the same problem... Who would thought it would be more than a very expensive BMW.. That is just wrong. I'll be looking for a new agent, i had allstate as well.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(gaboy @ May 17 2007, 11:08 AM) </div> I pay a great deal less with Progressive, almost $200 less. However I am in Kentucky and where are you? Rates differ from State to State and from city to city.
ours went down a few dollars.... we traded our 2006 acura mdx for the prius.... i expected it to go down a lot... but i guess it's another case of the MDX had great crash reports/was a very safe vehicle!
here's my current rate for comparison's sake: 1600/year on a 2005 prius with the side and side curtain airbags (they weren't standard on the 2005s). I'm also only 22 years old. It's for full coverage and comprehensive including roadside assistance through geico with a 250 deductible.
I was pretty shocked when my rates went up from a Mazda 626. I had been with Geico for many years but decided to switch to Response Insurance after my sister told me she did the same. Hopefully Response won't let me down when called upon.
We've been with Allstate for 20 years and were surprised with the quote for the 2005 Prius. Checked with Progressive and their rate was 1/2 the rate from Allstate. Same conditions and insurance terms for both companies. We're now Progressive customers.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(gaboy @ May 17 2007, 12:08 PM) </div> I have State Farm and here in Ohio it costs me about $46 a month and that is with 100/300 liability limits and with $100 deductibles on both comprehensive and collision. I am 29 years old. My Wife's Beetle 1.8t is $49 a month with the same coverages. I work for a competing insurance company and your credit score means as much to your rates as your driving record. Except only in a few states. (not sure which ones) The theory is that if you are more responsible with your finances, you will be a more responsible driver. (at least statistically)
