I guess the new Prius is a vehicle you can only judge if you see it right in front of you ! Even if you look at it from the side on photos or videos it seems to look different . Sometimes very attractive and sometimes not so . In one of the videos side view doesn't look so attractive, but the side view of tne Prius in the wind tunnel looks great ! I can't make out why that is !?
In the wind tunnel, I stared at that picture. All I could think of was This Is a Saturn. I'm sure it will be different in person, and maybe biased because I really, really hate that color.
I think they do. It looks like a stretched limo: If you ask me to define what makes it ugly, I'd say that side fin, blacked out C-pillar and rear door lower/rear wheel well. The whole thing looks like somebody grafted Dodge Intrepid bumper on Prius C, and then they plastered the whole rear monstrocity to what used to be a rather attractive and clean car design.
Another vote for the Gen 4 Prius is UGLY. I'm horrified by it actually. We had a Gen 2 and now a Gen 3. I liked the styling of the Gen 2 and absolutely LOVE the look of our Gen 3. I think this is a slap in the face to the core Prius market (let's face it, we're mostly interested in a practical reliable car) who have no desire to own anything like a sports car (I've always hated the look of sports cars). I'm most concerned about how the new styling negatively impacts functionality. The Gen 4 drivers seat is 2" lower than the Gen 3. I want to sit HIGHER not lower!! Even if I could get past the look that might be reason enough to not buy this car. I'm also concerned about visibility around the back of the car. The Gen 3 feels noticeably brighter and the back lets in more light than the Gen 2 did. Gen 4 seems to have gone many steps backwards in this regard. Yes, at least there is the Prius c and Prius v, for now, for alternate options. But maybe I like the size of the Prius (not too big, not too small) and don't see why Toyota has to ruin a perfectly great car that has such a strong sales record. Mostly I'm disappointed that 10+ years since Prius went mainstream, we still have so few options in the hybrid car world.
It all depends from what angle a picture is taken . Even the Model S which is considered as an attractive car by most people, doesn't by far look good on every image !
When I saw pics of 2015 v I thought, well, maybe it looks better in person. Than I saw it in dealership. If it is made by Toyota, you can count on it looking worse than pic; unfortunately.
Designed with a fugly stick. The styling is as if designed by teams that had no idea what any other team was doing. It has looks similar to a few undesirable entry-level vehicles. For all the time spent, the appearance is a huge disappointment.
Just like there is the Prius c and v, and the Corolla S, they should have released this as a Prius s "sport package" with corresponding upgrades. And left the main Prius alone.
it's ironic how many people who wanted to see a sportier design to attract a younger audience, now want it to have stayed the same.
