No humans, no world? Yes the world will not need oil someday. Maybe not that long from now, 200 years?

no it's an endless supply, forming faster than we can use it. AND, there's no such thing as climate change :p

From participating in discussions on similar forums I have concluded that many - actually, surprisingly many - people do not know that petroleum is much more than just a main source of automotive, aviation, and missile fuel. Thinking of industrial lubricants, solvents, dyes, and myriad of other industrial chemicals, plastic, textiles, artificial rubber, even pharmaceuticals. Many of these products, raw materials and precursors could be made from alternative sources of course.

Nothing is quite endless, including the supply of oil. But so far the humankind as a whole has not run out petroleum, and it doesn't look like there is even a supply shortage. The prediction that the "world is going to run out of oil in the following X years" (typically it's 50) has been popping up ever since the petroleum and petrochemical industry became a thing. It reminds me of the never-ending end of the world predictions by certain cults and stand-alone prophets of doom.

I am 100% certain that whenever humankind decides petroleum has become too expensive or otherwise not comme il faut, alternative solutions will be implemented, presto. Until then, don't think so.

unfortunately, oil suppiers will always balance supply with price, to keep out the competition.

yes, it is inevitable, but why wait until there are no polar ice caps left?

I have noticed gas prices just under $3.00/gal when away from the Interstate. This is an unusually low price which I find foreboding.

Are gax taxes being suspended? Several states did so last year, and it seems at least Georgia has done so recently.

Any idea what the rationale? No one using the road so no need for repair money?

Last year was because "gas prices were too high". Seems Georgia recently declared an emergency over prices, but I have no reason to follow prices there.

grasping that the reason was "gas prices were too high" semed schizophrenic in that Georgia had some of the highest incentives for electrics at one time. $5,000 iirc. What better way to incentive ev's than sky hi prices on the opposite tech that you don't want incentivized.
    sheesh

They do. All the time. You have to buy some solar panels to join the club of no electricity taxes
