This came through on my YouTube feed this morning. It's Patrick Stewart's announcement. It's clearly just filmed by someone in the crowd, but the excitement when he makes the announcement (at 5:13) is a nice thing to hear. It's worth listening to the rest too: it's interesting to see how invested he is in the role.
Coming to a blu ray screen in your own home... 11/30/18. Star Trek: Discovery - Season One [Blu-ray] - Best Buy Awesome news for all of us too cheap for yet another subscription channel.
Star Trek WATCH: Full Sir Patrick Announcement was something longer than the earlier video. I was at the Vegas convention when Alex Kurzman came out for an important announcement at 1:21 pm (was supposed to be 1:30). Was so surprised as to who came out when he said that a good friend would the announcement. Patrick Stewart wasn't on the roster (Creation Entertainment) nor schedule (Creation Entertainment). In the US, Netflix streaming has all of the Star Trek series EXCEPT ST: D.
Why axing Chris Pine would be a very bad idea for the Star Trek films | Film | The Guardian Hmmmm...... I don't really care if they lose a Hemsworth: while it seems compulsory for all films to have a Hemsworth in them, I think it's possible to make films without him. But losing Chris Pine would be terrible: I reckon he is essential to the way the new film series works. It's already going to be difficult without Anton Yelchin, but Chris Pine anchors the cast. His character is a d--k, but he's supposed to be, and that's what makes the films work.
Yeah. We were all surprised and thrilled to hear that Jean-Luc Picard is back, but he didn't say Captain. It will be interesting. I'm guessing expectations will be pretty high. I wonder if they'll be able to live up to it. It's not easy to make great content.
Having been really put off by episode 1, I had stopped watching.... Then I discovered why I was put off... and the following videos should be viewed by all to see what the hell's going on in the background.... 1- Star Trek Discovery: A Reboot, and The Axanar Connection 2- Star Trek Discovery and the Return of Picard: The Controversies Behind The Scenes 3- Star Trek Discovery: To Be Replaced by Nicholas Meyer’s New Series? and there seems to be no end to the corporate bullshit that is literally tearing the Trek franchises apart with the efficiency of a Black Hole... now, as of today, Les Moonves is out, what will that mean to Discovery... these are troubling times for the empire...time will tell. Now that I know the back story, I am up to Episode 7, it's getting better, we will see! You all will find these three are also interesting..... 6- Star Trek 4 Loses Pine and Hemsworth - The Rise and Fall of The Kelvin Timeline 7-https:// Star Trek Discovery gets CBS sued over Plagiarism 8- Klingon Look In Star Trek Discovery To Change Again In Season 2 Take time to watch these videos, quite the drama behind the scenes!!
Patrick Stewart shares first photo from new Star Trek Picard show - CNET ‘Star Trek: Short Treks’ To Premiere On CBS All Access In October – Watch The Teaser – TrekMovie.com
meh. I'll wait until "all access" lives up to its name. Currently.....I'm either OTA or Prime. On Prime I'm currently re-watching The Twilight Zone and Star Trek Enterprise episodes at the rate of about one a day....so by the time that I find myself looking for something else to watch, Disco will probably be free to me....and? I'll certainly give it some of my time! No hijacking intended but I think that for me personally Star Trek Enterprise punches above it's weight. The people who decide such things seemed to think that the series fell short but started hitting it's stride when they canx'd it after 4.....kinda like TOS. Granted.....I'm only 13 episodes in, but so far the juice is worth the squeeze for me personally, but then.....I loved TNG and don't know how DS9 ever went 7 seasons.
I just finished watching Tom Clancy's "Jack Ryan" on Amazon, geeze that was a terrific series. There are 8 episodes in Season 1! Really looking forward to Season 2 !! I would recommend it to everyone.... it's worth a watch!!!
I liked that series as well - kinda. I had to remind myself of all of the times I watched "The Hunt for Red October" while under water, under way on a submarine. One could hardly hear the dialogue through all of the jeering and cat calls about how unrealistic the movie was. The Ryan series was entertaining, and I took it completely as entertainment - but REALLY?!?! Would it hurt to hire a few technical consultants?!?!
It took me quite a while to get into Enterprise, but it really started to improve by Season 2, and it is a shame they stopped it after Season 4 (and with an unbelievably weak final episode). I'm slogging through DS9 at the moment. I'm at the start of Series 3, and it looks like an actual story might be starting to evolve. But the only character I really like is Garak, who reminds me a lot of a friend of mine.
