Lol, Sorry havent check Prius Chat in a while,

I left tape off so I can figure out the angle I wanted for ergonomics, It did not move annoyingly easy but you can move it with out tape. I did add 3M VHB later on after a week realizing the angle doesn't really matter to the inside, vertical portion, of the shifter and now does not move at all. 3M VHB is similar to GoPro mount adhesive sticky mounts, very very strong tape but leaves no mess or residue.

The knob is from a RAM mount Laptop mount coming from the passenger seat post version of their mounts.

That's awesome!, I am enjoying it and glad to hear another Prius user has one, at least I am not the only crazy one =P

I have it decked out even more now... added the flanged version of the post, x-Grip tablet, x-grip phone and universal laptop holder.

Friends were skeptical about the install and law. I had a cop look at it and didn't say anything, I am guessing because it meets the hands free design requirement, with hand held tickets, a couple of friends have had $100 fines for hand held, I don't get why the law states 20 dollars for first and 50 there after

23123. (a) A person shall not drive a motor vehicle while using a wireless telephone unless that telephone is specifically designed and configured to allow hands-free listening and talking, and is used in that manner while driving.

I've had cops "eye" my laptop mount, as well... and have had friends ask why I had a police laptop mount in the car (??); but I have never considered sticking anything else onto the mount because I can't reach around it or hardly see around it already! lol! So, do you do business/work on your laptop? I just use mine to watch movies during long weekly trips that I take, or to check my email after a long stop somewhere before I take off driving again. This new shifter did help a little on the whole "reaching around stuff" ordeal with the laptop being there. The guy/designer of the mount was going to work on a mouse mount of some sort to attach to the laptop mount (I hate using the touchpad thing on laptops), but every time I contact him he hasn't come up with anything... I have a 14" Gateway tablet that I've considered putting in there instead of the 17" Toshiba that's in there now, but I think the video processor on the Toshiba is stronger, thus better for my movie-ing... lol

Yes, the new shifter also help with space around the mounting configurations!, was not planned for that purpose but it was a bonus!

Yes, it the same mounts used in law enforcement vehicles. I tend to use it for similar reasons,

Tablet and Phone get a lot of use, wanted to avoid the handheld law, cost of ticket vs cost of mount, its more convenient, saver and versatile(the mounts are universal so for most part, I can swap out phones or tablets) I work in IT and do a tid bit of R&D. [Mounts specifically made for phones when I swap devices are usually incompatible and universal mounts are usually plastic that work ok then dont last more then a year.] These are higher quality build and quality of use, stable and scale-able.

Was interested in designing a full time car computer to process files and render edits on the go but nowadays a quad core laptop is pretty powerful and I can remove it from the car with all the data along with me indoors along with its lower power demand 80watts vs 200watts+ for a custom desktop monitor etc.

Its awesome when a bunch of work or researching gets done while at charging stations, working out in the field and traveling. Sit in the passenger seat when its heavy use mode, because of ergonomics. Processing a file or render, Can reach around and Que up the next task while on the go.

Mouse Mount: Considering this as well, looking at the holes on sides of the laptop tray and I don't see it being hard to add a small platform to it. Personally have gotten used to track pad because being so mobile having to find a surface to use the mouse ends up being too inconvenient and mouse gets no use any more, Track pads as touch screens have gotten a lot better. Heavy use mode, photo editing mouse is definitely needed.

The cool factor on this is where I think it was worth the rather pricey spend. I wouldn't say playing with it is worth the "investment" alone. Do you think the standard shift knob is fun to play with? You basically push one or two buttons and then don't really touch it much afterwards. It does allow for easier access to the power mode and hazard buttons. And it looks so damn cool.

I always had bad luck at "adhered" things coming off after awhile in our crazy heat here, so that has prevented me from thinking much about any dash kits. I never cared for the carbon fiber stuff on the exterior of cars, but I do like some of the carbon fiber dash kits that I've seen. Once again, I'm just terrified about them eventually coming off...

how much did it cost for installation and paint ?

It's blizzard pearl and the middle section is gloss black like the piece on our hatch. The wing was $1200 to buy. I don't know what it cost me to paint, as that was all just part of everything the bodyshop did with my whole body kit stuff. It didn't come with instructions, but it did bolt onto the hatch... That's all I know!

Yep. I was originally thinking that the green would better match the rest of the dash lighting, Stage-10's web site does say that the green isn't a perfect color match, so they are very honest about that. Then I figured that since I have blue leds on the door courtesy lights and the front and rear footwells, the blue ESS would kind of fit that color theme.

If I had the patience to swap out all of the green SMD's for the dash lightning I would do this: Blue led dash conversion | PriusChat

The $20/50 are the basic fine. The rest of it comes from court fees and other charges tacked on by local authorities. It can easily run $150 or more. This is also true for other moving violations. There have been some attempts in the state legislature to increase the basic fines for cellphone violations, but I haven't heard of any actually passing yet.

I recently picked up and installed one, silver with green led, works and looks amazing. The stick never made sense, kinda felt out of place since everything is push buttons. Also toshi -owner is awesome to talk to.
