The Wikipedia chart included both the CAFE and window sticker numbers.

Japan has a nationalistic culture that not only just favors buying domestic, but also puts up barriers to foreign companies competing.

Foreign brands aren't as hindered in Europe, and Buick is probably the most popular brand in China, or at least the most desired one.

Is this the reason to your opinion that the Prius there is one of the 3 best sellers for about 6 years now (most of the months in these years - No.1)?

The top 5 selling models in Japan is in a couple of posts of various threads. Four are Toyota, and the other is a Honda.
Very few foreign brands are sold in Japan in comparison to other markets. Japan also had hybrid incentives for an extended period of time, in addition to higher than US gas prices, to favor them over ICE domestics.

Whats with this thread? Many of not most writers on this thread post on other threads, but this one seems to be reserved for sharp attacks of others opinions, and then launching off on far reaching tangents on every off-topic subject.

OTOH - I suppose it is somewhat dated now, since we have all "spotted" the new offering.

I agree but some of us have strong opinions about our hybrids. It seems that a couple of posters do not see the Gen Four as being mainstream. And one thing led to another, this SPOTTED thread got derailed totally.

As I have said in the past, I will drive Gen 4. Who cares what the outside looks like, you really see the interior more anyhow.

It's all about opinions, everyone has one. Isn't it called Prius Chat? And some of us love our cars, some not so much, some just love to chat.

Hey you know I learned a lot by this thread. I would not close it. We need to air our opinions. I'm sure that we wanted to see the Generation Four Prius. Now that we have seen it, you either like it or not.

It's a polarizing design. We, the consumer, can choose to buy or lease it or find another hybrid, full electric or return to an ICE vehicle.

At the end of the day, we can voice our opinions, share information and knowledge, and even find some posters that are funny and worthy of reading.

When a new post happens, I would love to share it with my PC friends. My thanks to Danny and the moderators that keep us going and combining posts. JTM

Any gems of wisdom in this thread will be tough to find. There is so much sawdust in here that the digging would really take long to unearth those gems now.

Here in Indiana, there are no Plug In Prius. Also, there are no electric M-B available either. So that means the Midwest is not, wait for it, mainstream. Sorry.

    MERGED

Anxiously awaiting Gen4. I like it!

I think you'll be happy, there's gotta be some silver lining. Still, if I was in your shoes, I'd be snapping up a 2015. :)

If you want a Gen 2 PiP, you'll have to wait just a bit longer.

and your point is exactly? we're talking about whether the Gen 4 will move the needle in terms of hybrid sales and mainstream adoption, not what car i'm driving.

and if it really matters, i charge almost exclusively at work for $0/kWh on 100% renewable energy.

yes I bought an MB B-Class to replace it. have been holding off on selling due to family reasons but will probably get rid of the car in the next month or so.
