I agree, the early mules looked a lot flatter, more boxy than the later mules. Also, the tail lamps were more Gen 3 like.

A couple more MPGs? Seriously. If you hypermile now and you hypermile a gen IV - I believe the hypermile mpgs would go up higher than linear. Let's say the current Prius is rated 50 mpg, you get 58.

Next prius is 58 mpg, I think you'd do better than 66. You might get 68 or 70! Newer tech.

I was told once that the Prius is the most complicated system in the auto industry, NOT Tesla, NOT Volt...

i don't think sales will tell the story here. there is so much in play in the alt fuel vehicle world right now, there's no way we're going to know if the exterior design has a positive or negative effect.

i doubt the general public has held off buying a prius in large numbers in the past, due to styling.

Why would you buy a G4 if your G3 is doing so well? G4 isn't going to be a miracle car.

Hardware, I'd agree, software (lines of code) I wouldn't think so.

Buying a car is an emotional decision for me. It's a want, not a need. Even if it gives me 10mpgs more, I can't justify it. That said, it's the PiP that I want. There is enough difference there to open up the wallet again. But from G3 to G4.......it's probably gonna be just an incremental move.

a lot of people buy the latest and greatest, even though what they have is perfectly fine. it happens in every area of life. i trade in every 4-5 years or so. not because my old one is done, but because i like driving a newer one with more warranty and less potential problems.

I'd have said mechanically simpler with more complex control.

Complex does not necessarily equate superior.

Mine too, but I've never seen a car, of any type, that really knocked me out as far as aesthetics goes.

    You want sexy? Cars suck.

    This is sexy.

I want to trade in my 2012 PiP for the next gen PiP, the 12 miles of EV range is just not enough. Can't justify the purchase price either, but a decent EV range (with some EV power - no ice kicking in all the time) would have enough "fun" factor to push me over the edge.

I didn't think that I would like it based on the early leak photos, but I have to say I actually like it. I'd like to see one in Silver or black.

It's not what I had hoped for, but I think its not bad either.
