Yes, and they are so rare, but commonplace that they don't make the news.
Plug in fires make national news level still. So will a FCEV one when it happens. I hope they got the hydrogen safety systems right, because that will be filmed, and everyone will see it like the Hindenburg. While I don't think hydrogen is the path, I do think fuel cells could have a place in the future, and a bad hydrogen FCEV fire will stain all FCEVs.

 

My apologies guys, I didn't mean to steer the thread off course. All I did was point out some styling similarities between Gen Four and the Mirai

I still like them both, and I will be watching the Livestream reveal of Gen Four. It promises to be great . JTM

 

I like the shape but some of the styling just looks bad. Not a fan of the Mirai trim towards the back, nor the rear passenger window. I do wonder if there are appearance differences depending on the trim package? I just hope the interior more than makes for the could have looked better exterior. Guess we'll all find out tomorrow?

 

I have a 2012 C in the high desert just north of you. Now you've got me alarmed. A reliable cooling system is a must have.

 

A couple I know are moving to Cottonwood, Arizona next month from Indianapolis, In. Is there any thing I should tell them to watch for with their 2007 Prius? Its their originally leased car that they purchased at lease turn in time.

They, too, have had zero problems with their car. Will the desert play havoc with this 8 to 9 year old car? Should they save their money and get a Gen 4? He likes Toyota, she not so much but she drives the Prius for her twenty mile commute.

There would be a lot more brunettes and gray hairs running around. Hmm, how does hydrogen relate to the Gen 4 Prius? I know, the spy shots showed the two Prii were covered in hydrogen dioxide.

Really? That would be great in the fact that if Toyota goes to Flex-Fuel in the Gen 4, that stuff is even cheaper than gasoline. The downside is you will burn more of it.
The other good thing is the fuel system has to be upgraded to resist the corrosion from the gasohol. Also, it will create more horsepower. I hope you are right, Bisco.

 

no idea, i didn't start the rumor, just passing it along. i think it was started by someone worried about car fires due to battery exposure, gasoline or hydrogen.

 

I, personally, am not worried. I have had cars fall from a lift, cars involved in an accident, cars that burned up. I had a gentleman drop a wrench across the terminals of a battery. Another had a car backfire after the guys poured gasoline into the carb throat.

Gasoline explodes very well. Even when it is just vapor in a cold garage. You can't be scared to work on vehicles but I do have a healthy respect for all the things in these metal monsters that we all drive and love.

Great on the eve of Gen 4 reveal. Some people intentionally saying its ugly. Toyota doesn't want to give anything away. In fact they surely think it look fine to them. The aerodynamics are probably better than gen3, better fuel mileage than gen 3 and better space utilization than gen3.

So if I was Toyota and someone said its ugly of my newest design, I would be offended.
