The nav in the spyshots is indeed much lower. Could it be an instrument used for testing?

But the light is So bright. Not the case with the center dash display.

My guess is the light is testing instrumentation. Several pages back an interior shot seemed to show a center instrument cluster.

Two questions: First, what's the purpose of a test mule if not to conduct "test." That would seem to require instruments to measure all sorts of performance data during the "test" phase.

Second, I wonder (without knowing) if there is any economy is a center location for a manufacturer that sells both right and left hand driving positions. I recognize the same dash cannot be used, but perhaps the wiring loom (not sure that is the correct word) can be used in either position???

This appears to be a commercial photo shoot. Why do a test during the shooting of a commercial?

Yeah but the 2012 Prius c and Prius v were introduced late into the year (I can't remember which was later... Prius c I think? Nov 2011) and the 2012 Prius PHV only lasted 2 months (Nov/Dec) before the 2013 Prius PHV went on sale.

Back on topic, no one's yet to mention the glare off the MFD. It's not matte like the current displays. If a moonroof is offered again, it'll be difficult to see (based on my experience with my 2010 and the moonroof vs. the matte-finished nav screen)

I would be more economical to have center mount instrument cluster. Just one set of instruments, none of the "RHD" or "LHD". Sometimes it would state " for JPN only" or "for USA only".

In France, the workers take the entire month of August off. Not that it would change the introduction date of Gen 4.

That entire month off would change the face of manufacturing in the US. But, it would make scheduling easier than the vacation timing that we have now.

Speaking of France, no wonder they are so happy during the month of August.

Taking account of the camera location, that's definitely the screen from the center dash.

The center mount clusters still seem to have a RHD and LHD dash. The cluster isn't perfectly centered, or required angling means needing a different part.

Agreed that it may be angled, but it's still better tha a whole different cluster.

Not that it makes a difference, but look at a Morris Minor. A good design, just move the steering column and it could be RHD or LHD.

Saturn did something similar with the last of its plastic clad cars. You just have to move it right or last.

Toyota also had Yaris with almost centered instrument cluster. Did the Original xB and xA have instruments like that, too?

Yes, the first Scions did. The angling of the cluster meant a different dash was needed for each handedness.

Why couldn't the gauge cluster behind the steering wheel be the same part for either side?
This is a RHD Aveo. That is the exact same gauge cluster in my LHD Sonic.

Is Toyota alone having this centered dash. First noticed it when I sat in an Echo. At the time I thought "this is nuts". My opinion hasn't changed, lol.
