when i was looking around under the passenger dash after the spider was gone, I can see that there is a whole lot of hollow space under there for anything to take refuge in...scary wat can be staring at ur tasty feet as ur in the car riding, lol
Oooh, a bug joke. I have another one for you: A termite walks into a bar and asks "Is the bar tender here?" HA HA HA HA HA HA
+1 - About 10 years ago my 2001 Prizm began to reek - built up over a few days - eye watering bad! This happened a few days after my A/C conked out when the fan made some horrible clunking noises and stopped. Took it into shop (Lex Brodie's for the Hawaii people). They found the mortal remains of a large mouse or small rat distributed on the inside of the squirrel cage fan (ironic huh?) They showed me the old fan - it was not a pretty sight. Replaced fan - A/C worked again. Drove car with air freshener and windows down and A/C on full blast for weeks before smell started to dissipate. As for spiders - most are okay but a teacher at a school I worked at got bit by one at work. She experienced some kind of reaction to the bite, got sicker and sicker and eventually had to take a disability retirement.
ewaboy, if there ever is a next time of bad smell you might try a box or two of baking soda open and under seats out of the way.
Point well taken but the smell of decaying rodent is not to be trifled with. I would have needed a barrel of baking soda - shoveled into my poor, stinky Prizm... By the way - no one would ride in my car for at least 2 months after this incident.
Speaking of spiders, got a frantic call from the wife the other day. I thought she had an accident or something, but a large spider (like an inch in diameter w/o legs stretched out) was crawling around the front passenger side window after she arrived at her destination (her mom's house). Spiderman: You may want to skip this part... The wife's terrified of spiders, so I suggested that she call her mom to come out with a broom to take care of it. The thing made a good sized stain on the driveway.
I kinda live out in the country and had problems with very small spiders and field mice taking up refuge. The spiders inside and the mice in the eng. compartment. Solution: I got some peppermint oil, put it on some rags and put one in each location. No more spiders or mice plus it always smells like Christmas!
Toyota just announced a recall due to a potential spider problem: 870k Toyotas recalled for spider-related problem - Oct. 17, 2013 Not on the Prius though.
Well it seems Toyota has their own spider problem to deal with, (Camry recall). Such a small bug, can such headach and fear in mankind!
