I think Mike means instead of a 1.3kWh battery, replace it with a 4.4+kWh battery in the regular Prius. You'd have more range in EV as well as more room for brake regeneration but wouldn't require plugging in.

 

I guess I don't get it....why not just get a PiP if that's really important to you?

 

PIP doesn't come with the 17's or solar roof and has the chrome stuff on it.

It would be nice to have the larger battery capacity as an option on the regular Liftback. The car would get higher mpg's as well as running further in EV mode yet not needing to plug in. The software could also be changed to allow EV mode at highway speeds. The electric torque limiting could also be turned down to allow that 300 sumthin foot pounds of torque at higher speeds to give the car a stronger acceleration for those times a person needed to pass or more grunt to pull out at a busy intersection when they have no other choice but to go or sit there and piss off people behind them ;-)

You do realize you don't ever have to plug a PiP in right?

You basically just defined the PiP in that second paragraph.

 

No chrome on the front n back ;-) Make it an option as well as that other stuff I was thinking of ordering a PiP and did signup in the beginning, but then I discovered the solar roof and Plus Perf Package and ordered a Four instead ;-)

Absolutely! We should never have to set an electronic clock.

 

Only two things I wish I could have on my 2010. An optional as well as reasonably priced plug in conversion and I wish the CVT had a lock up option when on the highway. There nothing is more annoying than watching the RPMs bounce up and down by several hundred on the Scan Gauge at 55-60 mph while on a relativity flat road. I'd bet I could easily pull another three or five highway mpgs just with that one change.

 

Totally agree with you about CC. Seems like they could enhance it much better for fuel economy.

But there already is a reasonably price plug in. It's only a little bit more than a similarly priced regular Prius. Pays for itself eventually for most people.

 

Putting in that much battery pack and leaving out the plug would be ridiculous. You basically want a PIP with different options. That's understandable.

 

This is an especially good idea because the clock on my 2010 runs fast. I had it replaced; the replacement runs fast too.

 

Perhaps something about your driving is manifesting relativity effects?

The larger battery in the PiP comes at the cost of no spare tire, right? Not sure I'd take that trade. Maybe they could find another spot to shoehorn it. What's under the rear seats?

 

More ground clearance, I'm tearing up the front of my car trying to get into my driveway. I'm heading for the bodyshop again on Tuesday!

 

wish our new Prius came with extendable sun visors and a real deck lamp on the liftgate for viewing items in back at night (the tiny light on the side is a joke)

 

Change it to an LED and it will be much brighter

I'm considering getting the rear hatch LED upgrade kit from Japan. LED interior lights are definitely going in, but with only one dinky light on the side of the trunk, which gets blocked by stuff in the rear - a proper overhead light is the only fix for me.
