A longer range gas tank is a huge plus for me. I hate having to stop to fill up arpund town!

i fill up every 8 gallons. lugging around 10 is ridiculous. 9 would work fine for most people.

Having the option of carrying more fuel during long trips can be handy.

The rest of the time, you don't have to. It's your choice. A gallon of E10 fuel weighs roughly 6.25 pounds.

it's not the weight, it's the lost space. of course, 20 gallons would be better on long trips, but how many cars go farther than 400 miles on a fill up?

I've gotten the sense that you have shorter trips being in Boston. Even though I plug-in every day (and on the go when possible), I still have to fill up once a week with the PiP's 10.6 gallon tank. A 20 gallon tank would mean I'd only have to stop once every other week, which would be awesome (in addition to stopping few times on road trips). I still fill up at Costco since they have the best prices on gas (plus cashback), but any chance I get to avoid those lines I try to take (such as fill up in the morning).

it's probably more that i only drive 10k/year, and only 3500 miles in hv.

would you give up more hatch space for a larger tank?

    That's misleading without context.

It's better to ask how many gallons people would like and state:

    1 gallon = 0.134 cubic foot

that's a good way to put it. can you add how many kWh of battery will fit in that space?

i doubt a manufacturer is ever going to ask consumers how big a gas tank they want. and i doubt most consumers know, or know how far they can go on a tank.

Any signs of "his and her" default settings? We find ourselves spending way too much time adjusting mirrors and seat and such.

Yes. They apparently asked consumers how much electric range they wanted, and now look where we are.

exactly, it's always ev miles, never gas miles. who goes car shopping and asks how big the tank is, or how far it can go on one tank?

My truck was 25 gallons and I was lucky to get 300 miles out of it!!(n):cry:

With my 2016 Prius I've put $20 in it so far this entire month not including the dealer tank and have travelled 900 miles and still have 3/4 of that $20 tank!!! Unreal :)

I am actually looking forward to driving the Prime in the future as I might be interested in on for my wife when her lease expires on her 2014 v.

yes, unfortunate. and the hatch space loss too. it's all about compromise. are we willing to trade our pis for more miles, less seating and hatch space, and a big handful of cash?

Uh, hello, that would be me! But I'm not normal, as my better half so frequently points out. The thing is, my commute is about 110 miles round trip every day. So it's not really how far I can go on a tank, it's more the farther I can go, the less often I have to fill up. Before prius, I was filling up twice a week sometimes three times a week. It irks me no end to watch those $$$$ signs wind up on the pump, and 3 times a week was irritating to say the least. Now I can make one a week, sometimes 2 if I do extra driving. So yes, one of the first things I ask about is tank size and range. The bigger the tank (or battery) the better.

For the normal person however, they probably don't think about it.

Agreed. Although, Toyota hasn't used Prius' exceptional range as a selling point.

At long last, they are for the Prime.

Why do you think? GOP legislature is in cahoots with big oil/the power companies. God forbid you should get free energy! You can get your own solar panel for free home charging, if you want to spend the $$$ :p lol
