No dealer needed. Follow the instructions in the link on the first page and in the PDF file I linked to.

I suspect the website is incorrect but the TSB PDF I linked to is right in saying that it also applies to the 2017. Just check your current software version and compare it to the table in the TSB to make sure the update is for you.

For those who have a 2017 Prime and aren't sure if this update applies officially, note that the release notes clearly includes the 2017 as a covered year.

mine recently "fixed itself" from the reboots - it spazzed out (kept rebooting) until it somehow factory reset itself back to the state it was when i first got the car (had to repair my bluetooth etc). no more reboots.

so if the update doesn't fix it, look into how to do a factory reset. or maybe try it before the update. maybe, just sharing my experience

I have a 2020 Limited and the update says not compatible when I insert the USB drive. I clearly have an older software version (R20A2200). anyone have the same problem?

Same. Reported it to Toyota and got a case #. It was a wild goose chase.

Same for me. I downloaded it twice, and tried various formatting standards (fat32, ntfs). Same issue. Hope they release a fix for it.

Yes, read the other posts about this above. It doesn't work on the 2020 even though the documentation says it does.

i did read the earlier posts, that's why I asked. Wondering if anyone has tried it since those posts. I don't know if Toyota has fixed it yet.

Ah, I didn't realize you had read the posts. I checked the download file again today and it hasn't changed. Perhaps someone with a techinfo subscription could check if the correct update file is available through that service.

New info: I found an updated Technical Service Bulletin that references the proper update file 16TABDNA-AA02_3000.kwi for the 2020 Prime. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2020/MC-10174878-9999.pdf

Unfortunately it doesn't include the the update file itself and the download site is still linking to the wrong one.

If you get a Professional Diagnostic subscription to techinfo.toyota.com (from $65) and access the same service bulletin there, the download links on page 4 should work. They’re relative links that work only when the PDF document has been served from a Toyota website.

The “securedp.toyota.com” site, on the other hand, remains a mystery; this wouldn’t be the first time it’s had incorrect information or out-of-date software.

Well, kind of older thread but I updated my 2017 Advanced to the new software. As others have said, it takes a heck of a lot longer than 10 minutes. Just make sure if you try it, have the "engine" running. Don't just do it on Acc... (it automatically shuts off after 20 minutes), don't ask me how i know!
