Not to go off topic, but I wanted to get some input on tint shops. I know I want to get ceramic tint but would love some referrals on where to get it done. I know they'll be expensive but have trust issues as any new car owner would.

I know Roger mentioned California Tinting in Rosemead and mentioned a place in Irvine. I also read through the forums and Sunshield in Van Nuys was also a common suggestion.

Any help deciphering would be greatly appreciated...Thanks in advance!

 

Its a plug kit that fills the hole when one removes the rear wiper assembly.

 

I've used California Tint for many years on my BMW's and referred many friends there without issue. However, when I took my Prius in for 2 front windows back in 2015, I wasn't satisfied with their workmanship this time around. The film was cut short ~1/4" on both driver & passenger windows, resulting in an unfinished look when rolled all the way up. It may not be noticeable to most folks out there, but I'm OCD when it comes to my cars.

Last year, I was referred by @JamesKFChiu to Toby @ Elite Window Tinting in Fullerton to get my front windshield done with AirBlue ceramic tint. I watched him the entire time and his workmanship was excellent. I asked him for a quote to get my other vehicle fully done including windshield, and his pricing is very reasonable. I recommend him to anyone in the LA/OC area. Really cool guy & a true car enthusiast who races BMW's in his pastime.

 

Thank you for that referral @m3pare! I was reading a lot of negative reviews on Yelp! for California Tint so I'm not quite sold on them anymore. A lot of the reviews quoted workmanship issues so I'd definitely have issue with that myself as well!

Pardon my further ignorance, is AirBlue a brand or color of tint? But I will check Elite Window Tinting as well...Thanks again!

 

Not a problem! Sorry for the confusion, what I meant was Llumar AirBlue 80 film - Llumar being the brand and their ceramic film has a slight blue tint to it.

 

Another shop for window tinting is Tint Pros in New Port Beach. They have been around for over 20 plus years and work on very high end cars and have excellent ratings.

Are you tinting for looks or to block out UV rays. The reason I ask is that the glass Toyota uses blocks out 99% of UV rays. Front windshield too.

 

I'm likely going to do an all around ceramic tint and considering what @m3pare mentioned on the windshield total protection. Is that overkill on my C Three?

 

It all depends on what you are trying to achieve. It will reduce the heat inside. UV will not change as the glass already blocks UV. It will give your car a different look. Just remember it is illegal to tint the windshield and front door glass. I have had tint on some of my cars over the years and as long as you go light on the front as I have you should not get pulled over. I have never been pulled over.

The windshield will be super light and no limo tint but likely 30% around? So CA law is zero tint on the front windows?

Also any opinions on free hand or digitally cut films? Now I know I'm being obnoxious! LOL
