So I'm about to lose my right foot.

Can't afford the ER, and frankly, the last experience with the ER was less then thrilling. Today I laid in bed for about 10 hours, and the swelling seems to be gone. At least I think it is. I can say, visually, it seems as if my foot is back to normal. There is some sort of pain, that I can't pinpoint, (it's like something sharp is pricking the sole of my foot). And it still may be 'cushy' but I am not 100% sure about that, seeing as my sense of touch is just like my feelings in my leg; not there.

I just looked again, and if you see the left one next to the right one, it seems like both feet are the same, but the right is not quite the same. Dang it, the internets is not a great place to describe this.

I will be 45 later this year, and I just feel like I'm 75. My body is just giving up on me. I try to maintain a healthy diet, I try to exercise, although right now my doctor won't let me, due to this leg issue, and yet I feel like bit's and pieces of me are just giving up. And it sucks.

If I was ever able to go back to when I was twenty, I would slap the sheet out of me, and tell me not to drink as much gawd danged Coke as I did. Damn it. And if you are young, and dumb, and think nothing will ever hurt you, harm you, then you are as much a fool as I was.

I have diabetes. And it's killing me. It is. I am on insulin, I am doing what I can to fix it, but I am afraid I will die from this, and the way it's going, it's going to be bit by bit, little by little. It just sucks.

 

Where to start with today's news? Let's see.
Random order:
Need to see a ophthalmologist. I may be going legally blind, due to the diabetes. I can still see but I am having more and more days when I have more blurry vision then not.
My kidneys may be in trouble.
My stomach, maybe refusing to digest all the food; it was explained to me as to how that is, but honestly, it flew over my head.
My big toe on my right foot, which has no toe nail, is now infected. Being treated.
In the better news department, the toe that is next to the big toe, on the left foot, seems to be healing, but the verdict is still out as to weather I have some sort of shadow on the bone.
And my leg wound, according to my foot doc, is about two week away from being better, he thinks.

I got a shot of B12, and a bunch of blood tests, and had to pee into the cup. Oh, and my testosterone is being checked out as well.

I'm not complaining. Just reporting. And reminding all that think that HFCS is not of the devil, it is.

 

I am not ever 100% sure, but my older brother is 'legally' blind and does not get Medicare. And is able to drive still.

SO, having said that, I'm not sure I am. The doctor just wants me to check it out. I have these days, like right now, where my vision gets 'blurry' and is hard to focus, even with the glasses. I wear trifocals.

I suspect it won't be much of anything. Or I could be way wrong; it could be glaucoma. I have the appointment on August 27, where I will find out more.

Again, if you know anyone who does not seem to care about the sugar and HFCS that they put into their body, just point them towards this thread. If I can just help one person not make the same stupid mistakes as I made, then maybe this will be all worth it. I know that sounds corny, but it's the way I see it, no pun intended.

I made a serious mistake with my health. This diabetes is completely avoidable. It might run in my family, sure, but I should have been smarter when I was younger. I was an idiot, so I offer this thread as a cautionary tale. When I die, which at this rate, could be sooner then later, hopefully someone will learn better by my mistakes.

Three Doctors In One Day

Today I went to three doctors. The first doctor I say, was my 'regular' doctor, who told me that I had some good news/bad news. The good news is that my A1HC had dropped, from a 11.9 to a 7.9. And that my over all 'good' cholesterol was, well, good. However, my 'bad' cholesterol was high. As was my blood pressure, although that I doubt. More on that in a bit. Anyway. What else was good...not much. SO, the bad news: My kidneys are damaged. Brought on by, yeah, you know. Diabetes.

The second doctor I saw, the one from the wound center, said my leg injury was coming along, and MAY be better in two weeks. BUT, the injury on my toe, the one on the left foot (toe next to the big toe), has a hole about a quarter inch deep, maybe a bit less, and if that can't be fixed, then I may lose the toe. The x-ray results from last week indicate that there is nothing to worry about with the shadow that he thought he saw there. And he moved the treatment of my leg wound 'up' to the Medi Honey.

The third doctor I saw, a eye specialist, said I did not have glaucoma, and that because my A1HC had improved, so had my prescription for my glasses. However, I am going blind in my left eye, and my right eye is damaged as well.
The left eye has PDR, which is PROLIFERATIVE DIABETIC RETINOPATHY. The right eye has MACULAR EDEMA.

BOTH need to be repaired, ASAP, with laser surgery. Which means more $$. Oy, vay.

I go in next Wednesday, for the first of 1200 laser shots in the left eye. I will lose my peripheral vision in my left eye; the doc explained to me, that it's like when I lost my toe to save my foot. My overall vision will be saved by losing the peripheral vision.

Now, as to why I don't trust the need for high blood presure meds. I went to three doctors today; two of them use cuff style machines, with digital readouts, and both of those agreed: 133/78, while the manual one, the one my fist doctor swears is more accurate, said I had 150something over 90. Which does not agree, and just now, with my digital one here at home, I had 130/81. This makes me believe that while high, it's not that high.

All in all, a day where I got poked and prodded, and found out some more as to the wonderful side effects of the main disease here, diabetes. Once again, those with loved ones should point them here, and show them what can happen when you consume too much HFCS, and sugar. And those who have problems with this, don't kid yourself; don't lie to yourself. Fix this problem before you get to where I am.
