Snowflake on MFD

    wow, i'll never see that 37 degree snow flake! well maybe. usually when it's that cold outside, she (my baby) is in the garage!

    Salt and antifreeze lower the freezing point of water.

    The above 0° C (32° F) snowflake is not for ice forming, but for ice melting. Ice will start to form when the temp falls below the freezing point, but fully solid ice will not melt until the temp is above the freezing point. It is possible for ice to be on the road surface at temps above 0° C if it has only just started to warm up i.e. morning. That's why the snowflake is set to 3° C.

    I saw the snowflake this morning when I left for the office at 4:30 AM. I live in North Coastal San Diego County. Boy, was I ever surprized!

    I saw the snowflake for the first time near the end of September driving through the interior of BC. I actually saw snow too. I didn't know what the icon was at the time since I have never noticed it. Good ol' manual :)
