Snow tires? Or all season recommended?

I will once again point out that Nokian WRg3 tires are LRR all weather tires that ride well, are comparable to most snow tires in bad weather (they have the "snowflake"), and will last about 50k miles in year around use.

Ecopia EP20 are downright horrible in snow, especially when worn, I can attest to that personally, lol. EP422 plus I'm not sure, but they are a non-aggressive tread all-season, I wouldn't expect much.

There seems to be an inverse relation between winter severity and willingness to prepare with snow tires. I'm on the west coast, and within a week of purchase in November 2010 was rolling on a set of X-Ice.

When you're approach in Minnesota is to swap in a couple of fresh all-seasons, don't be surprised if you get a lot of disagreement.

If you want to avoid swapping, want a tire you can leave on all year, and don't want to be a menace in winter: a set of 4 of either the Nordman or WRG3 (recommended by Jeff, a bit pricier though) have the snowflake/mountain, but are an "in between" tire you can leave on all year.

Again, for year 'round, with traction reasonably close to a snow tire, the "all weather" Nokians, either Nordman or WRG3.
