I actually live in the mountains, so I run my winter tires year round. Which is why it's so important to me that I buy these michelins with the 40k mile warranty as they work well and are built well too. They see a lot of wear each year. I have found that they can take 2 of abuse before they are no longer an acceptable winter tire and another good year as just a summer tire before they're even down to 2/32.
I might add before I'm asked, that my reason for running these tires year-round is because we actually see winter weather in July and August here.

For year round look into "all weather" tires, halfway between an all-season and a snowtire. Up here Kal Tire sells Nokian WRG4 and Nordman WR. The latter are cheaper, but just as good, look to be rebadged WRG3. Our daughter uses the Nordman WR on her Pilot, year round, no complaints.

About a decade back there was a snowtire drought, and I went with WRG2 (on separate rims), used them as a snow tire.

Not sure what tire places sell all-weather in the states, here's a Kal Tire link, anyways:

I run 205 60r15 snows in the winter. no clearance issues. they work great, but then we don't get lots of snow and ice here. you could probably fit a 215 60r15 snow without rubbing.
