    Well personally i don't see any of that as a threat to the American way of life or anything... I think Toyota is just wasting their time with Trucks at this point and catering to NASCAR folks.

    Well, when Dodge has an ad that says the Dodge hybrid burns both gas and rubber it's hard to imagine them as a gas sipper. :) To be honest, I did consider some domestic cars to replace my Ford Probe, but once I saw the Prius at an energy fair I was hooked.

    I'm of the opinion that Toyota is more focused on their hybrid technology as a new platform rather than trying to steamroller the truck market.

    Hybrid technology isn't a smokescreen. It's real, they've spent years of development, countless amounts of money and effort, and they managed to deliver real vehicles that live up to promises. It's not just a frickin smokescreen for evildoings.

    Hybrid is the most important overarching strategy for Toyota that goes way beyond a PR blitz... They intend to hybridize everything, and when they make the Camry Hybrid, they will be one step closer...

    I'm not a huge fan of globalization. I think the end result will be that everyone will speak english, manufacture goods to sell in the US, and eat at McDonalds. Actaully there are some good things about globalization, but many things which i am very skeptical about(I'm sure you are surprised at that Maggieddd)

    I believe that a wise comparison shopper would ADDITIONALLY be looking at quality (initial AND long term) resale value, and service - all of which GM, Ford, and Dodge fall short.

    Though gas mileage is very important, it doesn't make the car. All of these qualities together will sway buyers to some extent.

    why are you so oblivious to the fact that Americans are also globalizing? You don't seem to have a problem with that. You only want to see whatever suits you.

    Just don't give me this crap, but but Lexus is expensive, how many xxx do we have to sell to equal 1 Lexus. BULLSHIT

    Using the Malibu for comparison purposes, the only item that you listed that Malibu falls short on is resale value. Most of that comes from the perception that it is an inferior car to the Camry.

    So initial and long term qualityis the same? Pretty bold statement... you must know a lot about the Malibu and the Camry....

    I'm not in favor of US corporations globalizing either. Globalization is rapidly creating have and have nots in this country and rapidly changing other countries through American pop culture and business.
