Thanks I took a chance the other day and ordered one that was very similar to that one, for 64bit. I am about to see if it works.

Yes. If your local. Currently in order to program smart key. You need to connect computer to car....

I'm no longer in the San Francisco bay area but I did leave two shops open that can program.

Ok so let me get this straight. You buy one of these key Fab and a techstream wire you plug in a laptop and it walks you through what you need to do to program the fab to the car. That's it.

The key is reset back to new condition. So basically your buying a new key as if you were walking into the dealer parts counter. Only difference is my keys have slightly wear and are priced lower, free uncut key and 50% if you want that key code cut to your car. Listing also on ebay

If you buy a used key or a "new" looking key it will not program the conventional way and requires extra equipment, procedures, time....Thats why most dealers do not touch used keys. Headache to deal with.

My unlocked key programs in about 5 seconds after you load up the programming software... Techstream.

Several machines that connect to toyota vehicles can program New or Unlocked(like mine) keys.
So if you can program a a new key into your prius with your machine, you can program mine..

Mines just a OBD scanner as far as key programming I don't think it can do that.
I was just curious what else a techstream dose.

I am not local. I am overseas and only have one key that came with the purchase of my prius. Was thinking about programming a spare key just for keeps

First time poster here, I was so impressed with Ovni's solution and the details of the mini VCI cable I just had to chime in with my recommendation.

I purchased one of Ovni's flashed keys August 20th with a laser key cut and received them two days later, he was super responsive with my delay in getting him my door key code. The key was like new, could have very well been unused. I also purchased the Mini VCI odb2 cable from amazon for 20-30$ that came with version 10 of the Toyota Techstream software. Run through the instructions provided for installation of the various drivers, etc and it connected without any problems. You double click one of the systems (ive since forgotten, it was either the "smart key" or the "main board" or something. Select the Utility button and then use the "wireless code registration". Jump through the hoops and good to go. Total out the door was 130$ and literally 5 minutes to install the software on a laptop and 5 minutes or less to do the programming.

Prius chat always hits on my google searches, how to reset oil notification, etc, so hopefully this is useful for someone else like myself.

    Folks,

I have a brand new / unused iKeyless FOB for the 2010-2014 Prius for sale on ebay (you will have to search for it...). The bid closes at 5:46 PM this evening.

I bought the key after we lost one of the FOBs for our 2012 Prius Plug-in... of course, after the purchase was made (but before I had a chance to go to the locksmith to program it & rekey the blank), we found the darn thing... so we have opted to sell the new one and try to recoop some of the money (It cost us $220, including S&H)

Programming and rekeying can be done by JD Lock & Key in Costa Mesa for about $100.00 - for those of you in the area.

Wow!! $220 for a new key? Where did you pay this? This should be a warning to others to not purchase from them.

The warning is no one should have to pay so much for a new unit. It's about 140 at most dealerships.

depends on the dealer, usually $3-400.
