i did receive a response from him. he thanked me for the information on how to disable the beep. he said he had received several emails on the subject and he admits to being a little behind in certain areas of "high tech".

i invited him to join our forum, he has not said whether he would take me up on the offer.

he did lament that he wished there was just a button to beep on or beep off.

hmmm... ya well, that would make an aweful lot of buttons because if you provide a button for that, then you would have to provide a button for other just as basic programming options.

i dont think he considered that scenario

wouldn't be the safest for him. I just read this article, called him a damn idiot and counter argued every point. If I was in the same room as this dumbass I just MIGHT have to knock the $#it out of him in order to make him an example to others....

Just came across this at the bottom of the article...

"Paul Andrews is a freelance technology writer and co-author of "Gates." He can be reached at [email protected]"

a TECHNOLOGY writer that is behind when it comes to high tech. Maybe my 85 year old grandfather could be a technology writer then and go off about the days of biplanes and "motor coaches"

Where the hell do they find these (four letter expletive beginning with f- and ending with -uck)tards!?

i know i was surprised to hear he was a tech writer.

his complaints about the controls on the Prius were so strange as to be laughable.

things like not liking the shifter because it didnt remain in position making it harder for him to know what gear he was in sounds like a very very piss poor attempt at trying to explain some sort of confusing issue

i guess looking at the display in front of his face was too difficult

I got a good idea. We will call a meeting (somewhere) and invite him to come. Lets tie him up, do whatever you want to do to him, and then throw him in a lake with the chair! :p

Then he would try to open his big mouth, and hopefully drown. :p

You must have been nicer to him. I thought I was nice other than starting off saying he didn't seem very knowledgable about his topic. No response.
Then he shouldn't write about them.

well ya know, sometimes the role of a "high tech" writer is to make high tech understandable to the masses. in this case, im sure thats what the deal is.

sometimes, being a techie can make you blind to the newbie's needs. so in many cases, getting a non-technical person to go out and learn about the gadgets then write about them works better.

the non technical person isnt versed on the technical aspects of everything and so must learn from scratch, and that usually helps him write a more concise article that is easier to understand for the digitally challenged majority.
