Oh yeah, I'm starting to get that feeling now. OTOH, I could use the time to get rid of another vehicle and I think that might take longer than a few weeks. I started out thinking I would just do a trade but since they've given me some notice here, I might as well see if I can sell it myself.

Congrats! I'm happy to hear your car is coming in - the next three weeks will be hard, but I can't imagine it would be any harder than waiting as long as you have to actually get the call that they've got one for you!!

Yeah, like Jim hasn't been 2nd guessing his dealer BEFORE he found out that a car had been allocated for him

FINALLY, this thread can officially be put the hell out its misery. I picked up my car this morning! Based upon what I had been told, it appeared as if it would arrive mid-to-end May but I got a call, to wit:
"Guess what just rolled off a truck and onto our lot?" :D :D :D

FWIW, the transaction went quite smoothly....too smoothly, in fact. Naturally, I was concerned. That was, indeed, confirmed by what followed in about the last 10 minutes of the transaction:

    1) I bought an extended warranty for $990. The word from the dealer was the list price of the warranty was $1695 but Toyota, as a showing of goodwill for the long wait, was chopping off a bunch. It was the 100,000 mile warranty and I blithely asked if it was a zero deductible. I was told that it was, in fact, a zero deductible and figured $990 was a pretty decent price. Good deal? Er, well, I discovered it was the 6 year, 100,000 mile warranty!

    2) Immediately after #1 (above), I was given the short course in Prius management (real short.....as in less than 5 minutes). First thing, of course, was starting the vehicle:

"Just put the fob in the slot, foot on brake, hit power. That's it!"

"Wait, this car has the BC package which includes the Smart Entry and Start system. So, there's no need to put the fob in the slot.....you just need to have it in the car with you, right?"

"Uh, no. You have to put it in the slot or it won't start!"

    Tooooo funny!

    And again I reiterate.... :)

Thanks for the list! I think I'll be able to get them to match the Schaumburg Toyota price for sure (extra $45 in their pocket, after all).

Since you mentioned "2nd guessing", try this one on for size:

My dealer now claims there is no such thing as a 7 year warranty....."it's not available on the Prius". Sheesh!

Also, note the price they stated was "list" for the 6yr/100,000 mile/zero deductible warranty.......off by a few hundred on that one!

    Congatulations! It's about time.

Try asking your salesman to show you where the 12 volt battery is (or where the connection can be made up front). I let my salesman poke around for a few minutes before showing him where it was. He too thought the fob had to be inserted in the slot to start it.

Now we'll have to have a "Jim's who own a silver BC in the Chicago area" get-together. The only question is where can we find a convenient place that will have enough parking for all of us? :)

Congrats on finally getting your car!

Don't suppose you had the opportunity to show the dealer that you don't need to have the fob in the slot?

    Thanks, Jim.

Re the 12 volt battery question, I'm afraid I might get an answer something like, "This car has a BIG battery and an engine! That's all you need."

At this rate, we'll end up filling the Soldier Field lots with Jim's! :)

    Thank you, Brian.

He jumped out of the car real fast after he showed me the starting procedure (assuming some sort of morbid fear of electrocution going on there  ).
