Again, if everything is art, then the word has no meaning. I contend that art is a very small subset of what people create. Most children's paintings are not art. The rare child has the talent to create art. Are you saying that everything a child does is art? If he pees on the floor, is that art? If he does it intentionally as an expression of his dissatisfaction with his parents' rules, does that make it art? If a kid stabs his sister as an expression of his creative angst, is her dead body a work of art? Clearly, (I hope!) there are expressions that do not constitute art, and I consider it "politically correct" lunacy to assert that every time a child puts paint on paper the result is art. Note above that I specifically noted a category of works which are art that I do not like. There is a lot of art I do not like, but which I acknowledge as art. In fact, I dislike most art. But I repeat that garbage is not art. Yes, this is a subjective opinion. Any statement about what constitutes art is an opinion. I state it as my opinion that garbage is not art. And I stand by that opinion. No matter how much some eccentric is willing to pay for a famous person's turds.
I have read all the posts, uhmm..."Inverted old boots over each post"?. When something does not require any special skills, imagination or degree of difficulty, it is probably not art! This is sick!
Boots over fence post is art and I don't care what any damn cats say. I am out hunting old boots each weekend so I can put them over fence post. This is my gift to thread highjackers. I will not negotiate with art terrorist any more I have to fight fire with fire. I also bought a bedazzler and plan on breaking into homes to inflict my art on the world.
Maybe Bra... I ain't the expert for your hood I'm sure... But this is true. Ya know what Bra... Different gang... different rules to roll in... Gals have a whole new meaning for rolling in... but still... it wouldn't be about shoes... and this thread is.
Well took shoes that were originally ov telephone line that I had cut down to put on fence post, had thought about encasing em in acrylic with a turd and having a art show but.... Since I got my bedazler I have bedazzled the crap out Orem, and have rehung them. Now need a way to run low voltage light to illuminate at night so they look like disco-ball Any ideas, i am thinking solar...need to do research on PV

Knock yourself out. It's a free country. But calling it art don't make it so. As for thread hijacking, this is the internet, friend. It's not even really hijacking, though: from shoes over a telephone wire to boots on fence posts is a natural flow of conversation, and the discussion about whether or not it's art is a legitimate digression. And I'd recommend wind power to light your bedazzled shoe display. Put up about a 50-foot wind tower next to the phone line and then position at least three searchlights aimed at the shoes. Now THAT would be considered art in some circles. I'd even consider it art if the shoes are bedazzled artistically. Though if a 5-year-old does the bedazzling you've got about one chance in 20 that the result would be art.
