Free range sheep and cattle don't really have much of a foot print when considered the environmental benefit of land use. Unfortunately world wide consumption of beef and dairy is so high that these beasts are more likely factory farmed. Free range grass grazed beef is more expensive... and there is not enough pasture land to keep up with consumption. Using the manure to produce methane that creates power may help but the way they are doing it now costs taxpayer money and is not done in a sustainable way.
