    Yes. Lidar would not have helped at all. Processing power and software improvements are needed and these are being done.

    The software does not look for emergency vehicle lights properly and in order to process all the information it assumes vehicles are not stopped in the road. A driver needs to take control in all these situations. The sensors are good enough. Lidar would simply need more processing power. Lidar is used by super cruise to map roads more accurately. Tesla would benefit from this database but all ADAS systems sometimes miss stopped vehicles where they don't expect them. It is a known problem that can be solved. Next get processors and software can do it.

    This video has Cruises returning to their parking lot. What is interesting is that you can see some guys working on the Cruise Origin.
