Not too sure about Exxon gas.

Chevron has Techron in all of their octane levels. Techron is an excellent detergent that will keep your intake valves unsticky!

Shell is even better! All three octane levels have additives, however their 91 octane has FIVE times the amount of additives required by the gov't . Now, don't go about putting 91 in your Prius.... (1) You don't need it (2) It might actually damage the engine's components such as the catalyst or ECU (3) the standard 87/89 will keep your internals clean.

I usually put Shell 89 because I'm getting pinging/knocking noises with 87 octane (be Chevron or Shell).

Hi Yoyo. I put an extra screw on the inside edge of the rear flaps. With the 3 screws supplied, there was about an inch of space at the inside edge (toward the car centerline). I got stainless steel metal screws at the hardware store. I'm sure it will work fine without it, but I didn't like the gap.[/font:6ba65e20c6]

Congrats vande23...Yea you're doing good, my first mileages were in the 39-40 range. Now getting better..46 or so., and that is with now 2400 miles, got mine about 1 month ago..HIGH Heat+Humidity= (AC) and short trips for me have been a real killer. Got lots of help from Galaxee and others and was able to slowly learn good ways to deal with the environmental conditions. Now you are lucky in Minnesota, but in winter you will run into lot of different things, check with the board and they will be most helpful

And use regular gas, not premium. It isn't necessary.

I put in 87 grade only, but from the finest of suppliers, no discount gas at all. And I have not had a single instance of pinging either.

Mobil 1 synthetic has been the only oil used since the first change.

over 15,000 miles and still the finest car I have ever owned.

I tried comparing Shell, Exxon and 76 and could find no discernable difference in mileage between the three. I used both the car computer and calculated mileage over 2 tanks of each. The variation in pump performance and fills was greater than any difference between the brands of gas for those 3.

Thannks for the response on the Exxon gas..plan to keep using it, and will add the Mobil1 at the 2nd oil change., was told to let the break in oil and the dino oil work a little first, then switch.
