Mayor of San Antonio just declared that no city facilities will host a gathering of more than 250 people. Any 'Public' gatherings of more than 500 will be shut down. Goodbye SA economy.

    Not good.

China has ~1.4 billion people for the virus to spread. The rest of the world has around 6.3 billion and very few are taking the necessary aggressive actions to curb the spread. March is going to be a very ugly month.

The better ½ got in line at Costco before it opened this morning. She texted that the line wrapped around the building multiple times and - as a very good distance estimator - says it looks like it's about a mile long.

I went to Costco on Monday after the first stock market plunge that triggered a trading timeout. No line, but they were fresh out of TP and disinfectant. I have pretty much everything I need to "shelter-in-place" for at least two weeks. Now I'm wondering if I need to prepare for at least a month.

we've always been over-prepared for Stuff - being in the land of earthquakes - and formerly Northwest Montana - where power would go out regularly. We even keep our 20 year old expired freeze-dried food stuffs because if times really get tough, you can feed your neighbors who aren't up to speed like you, endearing yourself to them, while you live off your good stuff. I'm sure they'd rather eat old stuff, rather than our 80 lb of spare dog food, although I wouldn't mind dining off my wife's Chihuahua. Not really - I truly love that yappy, nervous, runny-bulging-eyed shivering bundle of joy (grins)

No conspiracy theorist but it would be even stranger If there really was a bio lab in that area, being run by the government.

Those in Washington State desiring to be tested might contact:

    SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Qualitative PCR

They are performing many tests. I don't know if they are accepting 'off the street' nor how payment works. Guessing that a email query will get a form letter in response and then you'll know.

Looks like part of the UW (University of Washington) hospital. My guess testing to people within the UW medical system and whatever other doctors/hospitals they have partnership with (likely much of the Seattle metro area at this point).

    Without regard to chatter :)

The point is that if people in that state desire testing, there are emails to be sent. Describe one's circumstances and ask for details.

fairly close to the ma process, no one is getting tested, unless they have been exposed to known criminals

And that's why he/she would make a terrible epidemiologist in a pandemic.

Because I need something to occupy my mind, I'm going to take up tochatihu's mantle of providing USA/State updates.
