shungrix does sound a bit like vaccine hesitancy ;)

And yet optimists including me suppose feeling poorly after vaccination, indicates an immune system already 'hateful' against (in this instance) varicella zoster virus glycoprotein E. Further suggesting that @bisco will not get shingled. Money and discomfort well spent.

If others think of post-vax discomfort as a bad thing, I don't know how to let the light shine on them.

In 2017 I was in US and shopped Shingrix. Besides high price for an uninsured, I would have needed #2 months later and so declined.

I had chickenpox as adult, so could get shingled at any time. General supposition is that stress opens that door. From that I infer that not even PriusChat stresses me enough. Try harder!

In other news, Shingrix from GSK may arrive in China in a few years. Count me in.

"i recall reading that reaction is not evidence of effectiveness" it is not, strictly speaking, evidence of effectiveness. It is evidence that immune system is already primed to act against the antigen.

But it does not address your larger question.

"i'm jealous. fortunately, it's not yearly" This highlights ability to shape shift by some viruses; a topic beyond me.

MMR, varicella, and other vaccines are stable, as their enemies are.

Influenza, Covid, and other vaccines are modified, as their enemies change.

Some are one way and others the other way.

US has large stockpile of measles rubeola vaccine. Getting that into immuno-naive childrens' arms would be a very good thing.

Yes, regardless of legal status. Also .... just thinking - how glad we should be that shingles isn't communicable.

Just scored my pharmacys last COVID dose. Always a risk that earlier antibodies might fight this shot but given the alternative, I’m going with “less bad”

I'm not sure letting earlier antibodies have a bout with a new shot is even a bad thing.

I had the durn bug not too long ago, so I can probably afford to wait a bit before boosting.

I get it when recommended, doesn’t appear to be a problem
