I think the first responses were not criticism, but requests for clarification.

 

Wow, and I thought politics was off in fairy land over here :lol: The whole pandemic response over here has moved from over the top lock downs to "you have been warned, if ya die ya die" attitude. Even those infected these days care only required to wear a mask ... and that only happens if the person has come symptoms and self tests ... and follows the mask requirements that don't seem to be enforced anymore, the hospitals are again filling up, but most likely anti vaxers and anti maskers who are now discovering that it really is more than just a case of the flu ..... lol... I thought this thread would be long gone by now. But it still is wide open with more to talk about this dreadful disease.

After having all available vaccines and avoiding to catch the COVID for almost 4 years, I just got my first infection. Still isolating after 5 days since the positive test. The fact I did not catch even a regular cold for the last 4 years but ended up with COVID now makes me feel how prevalence this virus is.

I think we can safely call it endemic.

 

Maybe i was the only one that watched the debate between DeSantis & Newsome (where among other issues that arrose besides Corona virus ) - it came up how Disney supports grooming kids. Some of the actual literature was shown on camera (a boy suckling off another boy) during the debate. Newsom denied a boatload of issues that DeSantis brought up but Newsom didn't deny that .... so when DeSantis takes away disney's special tax status - Disney turns it on Florida saying Florida hates gays, which in fact - the whole brouhaha has nothing to do with that. & for the record - anyone that mistakenly thinks Florida isn't gay friendly - has never been to Sarasota or Miami. Having retired from there after 37 years & being asked out by more than one dude - yea it's definitely gay shangri-la

.

 

Those are a lot of accusations without proof, but be that as it may, Disney was keeping their mouths shut like most companies would until their gay employees and supporters started marching and threatening strike.
Then corporate denounced Desantis don’t say gay law and desantis fired back.
But densantis overplayed his hand imo.

 

Ok, I admit I didn't watch it. I read some reviews of it, but none that mentioned that visual. I might not have time to go watch 90 minutes of debate to find it ... got any idea of the rough time into the debate where that happened, or what the literature in question was, or any recap of the debate that discusses it? I've struck out, but haven't looked very hard.

 

A dirty job but someone has to do it. Channel surfing, I caught a couple of side-by-side images and DeSantis was having a 'bad day' and Newsome was laughing.

Yeah Newsom had the same smug smirk on his face as DeSantis was displaying California curriculum which is something that doesn't show up under a Google search strangely enough but other search engines.


It's not so much whether literature displays straight or gay activity, it's the vile notion teachers want to show this to 3rd graders & under - much less without even telling parents in some instances. Yet you have media types that are taken out when/ if they were to show this kind of activity/literature to a coworker. So what's the difference.

 

The more breadcrumbs you could have left showing where you found what, the easier it would be for another reader to find answers to basic questions about what you have posted.

As far as I can see, the basic questions include:

• Claim: this is from "California curriculum". Is it? What curriculum?
• Claim: the "teachers want to show this to 3rd graders & under". Do they?
• Claim: "without even telling parents in some instances". What instances?

It would have been more useful if you had even just included some of the links you traversed in finding that image. But even the image itself, I see that you have uploaded to PriusChat rather than linking to at its original source, so even that breadcrumb has been scrubbed from what you've posted.

For all I know, the source of the picture and all of the claims could be just as you have said. But your post seems to lack even the simplest things that could have been included to help a reader find that out.

 

DeSantis. Newsom. Hannity. Fox. Sounded to me like 4 Strikes.

But lacking cable or satellite service to bring in Fox News, I didn't need to waste any brain cell cycles trying to decide.

It takes me forever to search some of these things, sometimes i do better, sometimes worse - and maybe that won't satisfy summer anybody but that's the best I can do on short order.

I d k, but it seems the similarity between Coronavirus truth/fiction mirrors many of the other political hot potatoes .... like teaching young kids.

 

Right—that's why it's always good form to include the breadcrumbs to where you did find the stuff, so people following along at home don't have to start right back where you did and try to retrace your steps. It takes other people forever, too, and then if they didn't find what you found, who's to say why?

Maybe more like something worth doing whether 'necessary' or not, for people who value productive discussions and being seen as credible.

 

It seems the search engine A I algorithms affect as many over there as the do here. The A I never bothers with fact checking, it just looks for something a little further "out there" than the previous searches. There is an insane quote put up by the "anti everything brigade" over here "do your own research" without realising that unless everyone goes down the same rabbit hole as they did and believe everything the search engine finds, and simply "fact checked" the claims, that sensible thinking people would quickly discover the whole lot is bogus make believe pushed by those wanting to wheel their barrow ahead of anyone else ... just for the 5 secs of euphoria the number of views they receive gives them, thinking they are now famous or something .... "a legend in their own mind" and other variants seems to just the same these days as it was before the interweb ..... the only problem now though, is their immediate circle of friends just walk away and they are then surrounded by only like delusionary minded people ..... that is never going to end well, no matter what country or communities you live in .... lack of time to spend trying to shatter these illusions seems to be the problem, any ground made in that direction is quickly lost as soon as they get back on the interweb and the blinker go back on ....

There’s no talk of masking around here. Lots of vaccine advertising though.
No masking in healthcare settings except voluntary, which is almost zero.
No talk of hospitalizations increasing.
Still pretty much over, no reported thanksgiving spike, no major concern of other respiratory illnesses
