it was what it was. our neighbors sister was put in a nice cage (hotel room) for two weeks upon arriving in australia from the far east.
i'm sure more well knowns think they can skirt the rules. and they probably can

73% fully vaxxed here, but only a third of those boosted. 45% of our hospitalizations are fully vaxxed.

i'm starting to resent the term, since the vax has waned for a lot of people who aren't boosted.

hospitalizations continue to rise, a lot of older folks and those with comorbidities

    Plz check my math:
    • 73% - two shot vaccinated
    • 24% - two shot vaccinated and boosted
    • 45% hospitalized are two shot vaccinated, 49% (73% - 24%) of the total?
    • 51% hospitalized are unvaccinated or ~27% of the population
If my sums are correct, the unvaccinated remain 2x more likely to be hospitalized.

If you have a chance, provide URL sources?

Not only are the unvaccinated straining the health system to its breaking point impacting acute medical procedures for very sick people, it is becoming increasingly clear they are serving as petri dishes to the virus to allow mutations to begin and then spread as they are able to gain the ability to become more virulent and 'smart' to better do what viruses do.

Unvaccinated creating ‘ripple effects’ in health care, Boston Mayor Wu says – Boston News, Weather, Sports | WHDH 7News
As Tufts Medical Center officials declared that the “vast majority” of patients being treated for the most serious COVID-19 cases have not been vaccinated, Wu warned that holdouts are creating health risks for everyone else who may see their treatment delayed or altered.

Unvaccinated People Are Fueling Coronavirus Variants (healthline.com)
Experts say the uptick in COVID-19 cases is happening largely because of the number of people who remain unvaccinated.

“They play a huge role. If everyone is vaccinated, eventually infections drop to zero and so do variants,“ Parikh said. “But if the virus has an easy host, such as an unvaccinated individual, then it is easy for it to mutate into a more contagious and virulent form.”

Maybe scientists are so excited about the low cost, effective, purposely non patented Corbevax vaccine as it provides a couple of answers to this puzzle.

670,000 cases in the us yesterday. if 2% are still delta, that's 13,400.

    this begs the questions:

    1) what percent hospitalized are omicron

    2) what are the demographics

    3) what are the comorbidities

    4) what percent of hospitlized are fully vaxxed and boosted.

for some reason, among the vaxxed, there is booster hesitancy, which can make all the difference with omicron

what bothers me about these politicians, and even health officials is the constant prattling on vaccinations to those who would not hear.
and to those of us listening, they offer no data to back up their claims.

In math to progress you must accept some basic facts like 1 +1 = 2 etc. and so forth.

Thanks to Scientist, Medical Doctors, Microbiologist, Healthcare Administrators, Medical Researchers who've studied polio, smallpox and many other horrible diseases we have now started to understand exactly what is happening and why - the medical equivalent of 1+1=2 with Covid 19. To these Trained Medical Professionals, the path to normalcy for Society is now becoming very clear.

There are going to be people who just don't agree or can't be bothered to do what is right. Example talk or interact with a flat earther.

Politicians have the unenviable job of managing different Community Services for the good of the Community. I bet they also get tired of trying to convince people the "earth is not flat" - "and yes you actually need to get vaccinated and wear a mask.".

We are seeing now some Countries and Communities moving to some negative consequences for not being socially responsible- in Western Nations this seems to be taking the form of monetary penalties and forfeiting the right to freely move from place to place- in China and some other countries they have some novel and effective ways to deal with "flat earth mentalities" or "pandemic deniers" that we would never do in our Western cultures.

In our own little neck of the woods, we recently had a situation that some of these issues were played out- in our state each School Board decides if masking in school is necessary. In our community there was a very vocal and demanding group of parents who demanded an end to the requirement for masking because of every reason from an increase in their child's acne, asthma, Covid 19 is a hoax, mask are ineffective, vaccines are a government hoax and on and on to infinity. The poor School Board Members were tasked to make the decision for the entire County School District. Talk about getting caught between a rock and a hard place. They then did a novel thing. They called in the County Health Director for guidance. The Director gave a report of how our tiny hospital is full and has no beds for sick people and patients who require hospitalization must be moved out of county (90% of beds occupied by unvaccinated Covid patients)-County's infection rate now over 27%, and Medical Practices are overwhelmed and having trouble filling requests for appointments. The Director said if the County wants to have any chance of maintaining in person school they are going to have to require masking. The Board took the Directors recommendation to require masking and did not even vote on the issue. I admire what they did and hope all Politicians and Leaders in Society begin to accept that we now know 1+1=2 with Covid and begin to solve this problem. Unfortunately, this means in many cases Politicians and People in Community Service are going to have to tell people 1+1=2 even though they don't want to hear it and refuse to believe it.

This issue of the unvaccinated being petri dishes to cultivate mutations, is greatest not here with our vaccine holdouts, but instead in the lesser developed areas of the world where vaccine rollouts were significantly delayed, or even still not sufficiently available.

i'm not sure we completely understand covid math yet. as the experts keep telling us, 'the science is evolving with the virus'.

That seems like a fair description of one view of a politician's job description.

That's complicated enough, before you throw in other politicians who think their job description is "cater to people who want to hear that the earth is flat and they don't actually need those things."

I'd suggest: our understanding of the science is evolving with the virus

i'd like to see the numbers of "stained to the breaking point, 2020" vs normal 2019.... minus the sensationalism/headlining.

did the health care system (the stained to the breaking point one) happen to fire a bunch of nurses right before the strain ? I've noticed that's a pretty common method of making things look a lot worse than they are also.

finally, a way has been thought up to tax people yet again

it wasn't enough to shut down entire economies, kill off businesses completely, ruin small business... now let's just hit em for a hundo each month they don't comply, healthy or not, previously exposed or not, logic or not

also, let's talk about how we can impose into their lives even more if they (gasp!!) refuse to pay the hundo monthly fine... maybe throw them in jail for "just two weeks to flatten the curve" ?

yup, this is for the sake of health, not compliance obviously

    "diapers will stop it"
"once we have a jab no more diaper"
"two weeks to flatten the curve"
"jabbed people don't need a diaper"
"jabbed still gotta diaper, but not for long"
"jabbed needa couple diapers now, short term"
"oops, no doubles not needed if yer 2x jabbed"
"yup, single diapers and triple jabbed need to be locked away for a couple weeks again"

    ummm ....

yes it's definitely evolving, like every ten minutes

Both those examples are not from "freedom loving" America, but instead from foreign "high tax socialists utopias", so it shouldn't bother uber-patriotic anti-tax 'murican nationalists at all.

Well, at least not those who understand where "Quebec" and "Greek" are, which isn't all of them.

I hate to see anyone being oppressed, no matter where they are.
