No problem, we’ll send the anti-VAXer doses. Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, and Tennessee has a surplus of vaccine. No doubt their leaders will be generous.

We are not responsible for sending vaccine to all the countries that have not purchased enough for their citizens. The USA does have an obligation to keep the citizens healthy, especially in times like this. And yet, we have promised a huge number of doses to other countries already.

I'll eagerly line up for my Moderna booster. I've paid my taxes and for my health insurance.

    US does donate COVID vaccines:

Biden pledges to give 500M vaccine doses to countries worldwide

I understand this number is in addition to earlier 20 million, 60 million, or whatever.

Other countries also have such programs.

    UN has COVAX

    COVAX

although I did not read that link deeply enough to say whether a number of doses is mentioned.

    ==
Point is that this is US policy and that of many other countries.

Getting some jabs into unjabbed arms abroad kind of counts as health insurance.

I had understood that it included domestic data, not just Israeli reports.

During ordering and purchasing vaccines, we strongly muscled ahead of most of them. Countries not having major pharmaceutical factories within their borders -- i.e. most of them -- were at a significant disadvantage.

Considering the globalization of most economic activity and travel, our own health and safety requires knocking down this disease worldwide, not just domestically. Nationalism interferes with this global need.

"No ICU beds are left in the entire state of Alabama, the Alabama Hospital Association told CNN on Tuesday.

“We in fact are in a negative 11,” Dr. Don Williamson, president of the association, told CNN affiliate WSFA. “In the Montgomery area we have eight more patients who are getting ICU care than we have designated ICU beds here. In other parts of the state, we have over 30 patients in hospitals, needing ICU care, who are not in a designated ICU bed.”

Alabama has 1,557 staffed intensive care unit beds and on Tuesday, there were 1,568 patients in need of ICU care, Williamson said."

Though their JHU hospitalization page shows 50 empty ICU beds, out of 1583 total, i.e. 97% full. Or maybe 50 beds are empty, while 61 patients in other facilities are getting ICU care in non-ICU beds? Or just different reporting channels and times?

My new wife finally got moved from ER waiting area to an ER room. She has a non-COVID diagnosis that won't require ICU care.

Selfish off-spring of female dogs!!! She has to deal with the local hospital resource limits!!!! WORSE, I can't help as no visitors!!!

My sentiments precisely. I was supposed to be getting a knee replacement today. They called late yesterday afternoon to cancel it. I worked my butt off for a month so I could be off work for two months. Now, I'm at the office doing little odd jobs to stay busy while my knee still hurts and locks. As far as I'm concerned, if you don't want the vaccine and there's no medical condition stopping you from getting it, then you should not expect a hospital bed.

I was pretty much thinking the same thing.....
It's pretty clear, MOST especially lately, that the USA is fresh out of damns to give about what the "world community" thinks about us, and there are some short-term benefits to telling the rest of that "we got ours, YOU get YOURS!"

    HOWEVER (comma!)
If the "experts" are to be believed, then the cheapest health insurance would be to export the juice to people who are better at math that those crazy Americans.

FOR EXAMPLE....Peru might have been a good place to have done so a few months back.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has called for a moratorium on COVID-19 boosters until the end of next month, with the aim of ensuring that at least 10% of people in all countries are vaccinated before extra doses are handed out. It makes a compelling argument. As Nature went to press, 58% of people in high-income countries had received at least one vaccine dose; in low-income countries this number stood at just 1.3%.

Moreover, the case for boosters has not yet been proved. Most COVID-19 vaccines currently in use remain extremely effective months after administration, particularly against severe disease and death. In a period of vaccine scarcity, the choice to dole out boosters must be guided by evidence of benefit, and consideration given to the cost of delaying the delivery of vaccines to vulnerable people and health-care workers in other countries. So far, there is little evidence that boosters are needed to protect the fully vaccinated.

Sadly, many countries are moving ahead with boosters regardless. Israel has begun giving third doses of Pfizer’s mRNA vaccine to people over 50 and other vulnerable groups. France, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States are all planning to provide boosters to certain groups. In the United States, more than one million people have managed to get an unauthorized third dose.
    ...

Age 71 and vaccinated, I am for a booster shot which eight months after means December 2021 to January 2022. So I can wait but not tolerate a delay. Worse is the question of variant emergence.

My fear is a small percentage, 10-30% vaccinated population may lead to a higher probability of newer, variants that are more attuned to defeat the current vaccine. It may make more sense to accumulate a vaccine supply and then do a mass vaccination of a population. A weak, diluted population has more opportunity to evolve a more lethal or infectious variant like Delta became relative to Alpha.

unfortunately, we don't have enough science to make this a clearcut decision, but it's not up to us anyway, it is what it is.

    Concur.
BUT....What percentage of the global population has been vaccinated?

Like many humans, viruses do not respect or even pay much attention to national borders.
Also, I'm a little curious about the lethality of the Delta variant, since the initial data out of the UK, Israel and India suggest that Δ<A as a life harvester.
    Fake news?
    Arithmetic gymnastics?
Things that make you go hmmmmm.

Also....I'm a little curious about the presumption that the 'Rona will be cited for disobeying Theobald's “law of declining virulence.”

So....applying the same technique that Soviet news victims used during the Cold War when reading Izvestiya or Pravda, I take headlines like those listed below with a healthy side-order of skepticism...MOST particularly those that start with "Studies Show" or "Fact Check."

Fact check: Viruses can mutate to become more deadly

Well....maybe not the last one. ;)
Viruses, like many humans don't care about borders.

The U.K.’s data shows just a 0.2% case fatality rate for Delta, and only 0.03% for those under the age of 50, lower than any other variant.

Unknown what the current lethality assessment is, or if the PCR test (and historical results) would even be useful at this point.

are cases, hospitalizations, icu, intubation and death numbers broken out by vax v non vax?

looks like table 5, but i'm not sure how to read it.

    sadly - it seems to depend on where you get your story;
Covid-19 natural immunity compared to vaccine-induced immunity: The definitive summary | Sharyl Attkisson

Now - with the latest narrative that the vaccine doesn't necessarily stop infection, and its benefits are ~8-ish months, it seems like reality has a very wide range of variables.
