Take care and get well soon. I hope it is nothing but just regular "cold". Well, if I did not have the regular COVID testing required for my work, I would suspect any "cold" or "flu" like symptoms to be a sign of COVID-19. I have had none of those symptoms since the restriction started in March. That is until my recent visit to a clinic. I had to visit my PCP to get my flu shot, and at the visit, he updated other vaccination as well. I got the first shot of the shingles vaccine. Man, that gave me an ache and chill and fatigue and fever for days following the vaccination. I almost thought about going back to the doc to get tested for COVID to be sure it wasn't the COVID-19 virus I picked up at the clinic. I didn't and subsequent testing proved to be I am still negative for COVID-19, but if it was positive that would be iatrogenesis for sure.

I suppose with fatalities lagging case counts by some weeks, there might be some plausibility to saying those started looking exponential nearer to April. I've not done a similar curve fitting exercise with those.

Looking at the Worldometer chart, nah, daily deaths were already slowing from March's exponential growth early in April, and peaked and started declining late in the month. April's daily peak wasn't surpassed until the end of November.

Peaks and declines don't fit exponential growth. For deaths, it looks like March was the only exponential growth phase in the U.S.

Yeah, that's what my wife said. She had hers done a few years back. I had not seen my PCP for years. This year, I could not get my annual flu shot at work which is usually offered for free for all employees and spouses. I did not want to get it at Walgreen, CVS, and alike for obvious reasons. So, I went to see my PCP. Yap, on top of the second shingle shot, I now have to make an appointment for a second colonoscopy... The last one over ten years ago. :(

So....what exactly are those reasons ?
I don't think they are as obvious as you might think.
I've had my annual flu shot at a pharmacy for the last 10 years or so.

Going inside of a building with many unknown people some without a mandated face mask. I felt the PCP's clinic was less risky, but I don't know for sure...

Picked mine up about 10 days ago. No fever and O{2} ~98%. Lots of naps.

Based on family cancer history, I got my first very shortly after turning 50. And based on the findings, they immediately put me on 2 year recalls. I took them all very promptly as they came due. That discomfort is minuscule compared to what I witnessed while providing home hospice care to a parent (not initially a colon cancer, but a related one that promptly metastasized to include that). I want to delay my own turn at that as long as possible.

Finally, they now have me on a 5 year recall.

One cousin within that cancer side of the family, survived a cancer this year. But another succumbed. And just Tuesday, a family acquaintance who was one of the last living connections to my long deceased first father, passed of a colon-related cancer that he didn't even know he had a week ago.

I won't hesitate to immediately get my next colonoscopy when it is due. FWIW, my second father's blood family seems to be cancer free, instead they all drop of heart disease or stroke.

The new enhanced-transmission variant of Covid-19 that closed down the UK has started showing up around the globe and has most governments on high alert. While there doesn't seem to be evidence this variant causes more severe disease, that is little solace as it will inevitably drive numbers up for already overburdened health care systems.

The US still seems to be flying blind. "Since Dec. 1, Britain has sequenced more than 3,700 coronavirus cases, compared with fewer than 40 cases in the United States, according to Trevor Bedford, who leads a viral sequencing effort at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle." Opinion | The U.K.'s New Coronavirus Strain and How to Stop It - The New York Times

The US scientific community has plenty of sequencing capacity - it just isn't being used (at present) . . . :(
