didn't get any password either...i'll be going back there to get the license plate so i guess i'll get it then....
Is the roadside assistance that is provided free? For example is the tow truck that comes to your rescue already covered or is it just link you up to someone that can help if your car konks out on you?
Yes this Roadside Assistance includes the cost of the towing, tire assistance, gas, etc that a normal program would include. Roadside Assistance Stolen Vehicle Locator if needed Emergency Assistance Automatic Collision Notification It's inexcusable, and potentially open to liability, that a buyer who paid $400 for the Safety Connect can't use it because he/she hasn't been registered with Toyota. I'd go back to the selling store and raise holy hell. We made certain that all our sales personnel as well as the F&I staff that actually does the registration had taken the UOT Safety Connect course online before the first Prius with SC arrived.
How do you know if it Safety Connect is active? I did not receive a password either. Is one of the lights lit if active?
If the green light next to the SOS button is lit then the system is able to connect to Toyota....but you may not be registered to use it. Go back to your store and boot some Sales Mgr in the a** in order to get you registered.
When I purchased my Prius, they told me it was the first car they had ever sold with SC and admitted they weren't sure how to register me. So I'm not registered either. I'd go back to the dealer now and see if they can help me, but I don't know what the cost of the service is. The first year is free, but then what?
You can add individual years after the first year for $139.95 or whatever the cost is at that time or book a max of 5 yrs total for about $500 or simply let the subscription lapse after the FREE first year. Your choice.
If it was up to me I would tell them I want the $139 back for the first year and would call it even. I am getting it on my 2010 IV because I have had to wait more then 5 months and now I have to pay for it even though I didn't want it. Another way to milk more money from the customer for options many would not choose to buy if they had a choice. Prius Team can you hear me now!
Sorry, IMO, that's just a shopping issue. We have IV's with and without Safety Connect. Why would you take it if you don't want it? We can order IV's and V's with or without Safety Connect. Find another store who will get you what you want.
Does Safety Connect perform the Monthly Vehicle Diagnostics Test and emails the report to the owner? This is the Onstar feature that I like because it provides the remaining oil life %.
I live about 400 miles from the dealership where I purchased the car. Is there any way to active Safety Connect w/o going all the way back to the dealer?
I activated mine over the phone with my dealership. Well, finished the activation. The system was on, but my account wasn't fully set up. Now it is, without an extra trip to the dealership.
Shopping issue? I think you miss read my post, I ordered 5 months ago with a non refundable deposit before safety connect was even available. Then Toyota starts shipping most if not all solar roof IV's in many districts with safety connect before I get mine. I assume you are saying I should walk away from my deposit and start all over again maybe even drive 200 to 500 miles for what I want out of state and give away my deposit? Not to mention when I drive my out of state car onto the lot (400 miles away)where this other dealer has what I want on the lot how fair of a deal do you think I will get on my trade in. How is that a good business model for Toyota to make that necessary with their current allocation/order process?
I simply pressed the SOS button in my car, advised that the call was not an emergency and that I wanted to set up my account. Took about 7 minutes.
Non refundable deposit? That right there is a pretty nasty practice. I had to think twice about doing business with a dealership that required a fully refundable deposit. Do all of the Toyota dealerships out where you live do that?
I don't know about all dealers but when I ordered a Porsche Cayenne S 5 years ago exactly the way I wanted it, they required a $5000 non refundable deposit!!! In one way I almost have to ask, what is the point of a deposit if all you have to do is walk in and say you want it back.
Are you saying 400 miles to your nearest dealership in Cal? Or is there something special about the dealership where you bought the car, that you only want it serviced there?
