Saddest Thing Ever

    I admit that this sentence makes no sense to me.

    " I can not even put in the correct year...because it's that new. "

    Huh? I knew what model year my vehicle was...before I even bought it or test drove it. Why would being "new" have anything to do with being able to put in the correct year, or know the correct model year of your vehicle?

    But never mind...I'll assume the OP was just distracted and upset by the events.

    Listen nobody would be happy to have a new vehicle break down early in ownership. But this clearly isn't the end of the world. If it happened late on a Saturday night? Monday morning for diagnosis is not unfathomable, or IMO particularly unreasonable.

    Just take it step by step. Get the information, ask the dealership about a rental car if needed, and take it easy. This may yet all work out ok.

    I'm sorry to hear about this! As others have said, it was a bit of unfortunate timing on your car's part - when the dealership is closed, there is little you can expect them to do for you. They'll most likely get you sorted and hopefully your Plug-In will become as reliable as most of them out there.

    Interestingly, I almost bought one of the last Plug-Ins from Dorschel last week. What color is yours? I wonder if it could be the same car?

    Your dealer should have given you a loaner car. Call them and ask to speak to a manager.

    Also, check your insurance - your policy may have a rental car provision.

    So it has been two days and no word from the OP. I would imagine that if there was no diagnosis we would have heard a gripe by now. What do you think the issue is - did we all scare her off, did she find out the problem was caused by user error, or just an Internet troll?

    Ah....it appears we done run her off lads....

    And this was the saddest thing EVER...

    Poor lady is probably in a darkened room turning a light on and off..on and off, on and off.....while mumbling " Toyota Care Package" to herself.

    Speaking only for myself....I'd say...come back and share...

    As a whole we usually are a friendly helpful bunch.

    I really hope the OP hasn't given up on her new purchase. But I expect I'll never know.

    ok ... appropriate now ... commedian Louis CK says it best here. Our Prius ... our phones ... our internet ... our air travel ... it's AMAZING ... and yet we still aren't happy. It gets closer and closer to near perfect ... and yet we're not happy. Consider what Louis says about having to be 'put out' over things taking too much time for our expectations:



    and after you watch that . . . if you still complain ... if you EVER complain again ... then there's just no answer for you. see, I'm just saying ... if I were the OP, I'd want to go back and delete / edit my title because frankly - your car may very well break down. and it's not the saddest thing ever. Traveling across the continental divide 160 years ago may be the saddest . . . because you'd get an arrow through your neck ... or starve or freeze to death ... people would die and be born on the way ... and an entirely different party would arrive than the one that originally left ... months & months earlier. ;)

    If Jane were even a real person, living near, I'd have gone over and lent her one of our cars. But Jane didn't even post where she's from. When the OP 1st posted - I have to admit I didn't want to respond because some folks don't really want help, because sad to say ... it's all about 'me'. If Jane is real ... if Jane returns ... if Jane asks for immediate help, I'll be MORE than glad to ... if we can just knock off the "worst thing ever" attitude .

    I think I would trade her straight across- my recently-wrecked-soon-to-be-repaired PiP, for her new car in which she apparently is extremely disappointed. :p

    Perhaps problem was driver error and she's embarrassed....I agree she owes a follow-up.

    I hope She knows we all have been embarrassed by our Prius at one time or another!
    Check back in and we will all have a good laugh together! Not about You, but the Prius and it's quirks! :)
