The nice thing about being a thoughtless conservative is that you can make this kind of idiotic comment and have those around you nod in thoughtless agreement.

Really, you use words carelessly and only reveal your lack of thought. Or are you literally claiming no liberal ever is conerned with facts? How 'bout those Bushies who believe Saddam was linked to Al Queda and Osama, or that he had WMDs? Those "facts" are believed by a majority of the conservative morons who spout fiction like this, then scold liberals for not caring about "facts."

 

Rush Limbaugh has the right to express his opinions. So do I.

My opinion is that Rush Limbaugh is a hate-spewing, homophobic, misogynistic, lying, hypocritical blowhard. If I were a Republican, I would hate the perception that he speaks for me.

Prius owners come in all flavors and buy for a varity of reasons, as a poll showed here a few days ago. I don't believe you can claim one political party buys one car over another to make a political or social statement. Get with it Rush. Right wing wacko conservatives also drive Prii.

 

People can express any opinion they feel like expressing. It doesn't make some opinions any less idiotic. If Hugh Hewitt wants to believe things about the Prius that aren't true, like the mileage for example, that's fine, but it does take away some of his creditably since that is an easy fact to check before he tells millions of listeners. I didn't hear Rush's comment about Prius owners, but I agree with the idea most are making "overt" statements by buying a Prius, judging by my brief time spent reading posts at this website. Read the vanity plate thread to get an idea.

 

Of course liberals are concerned with facts -- especially on the subject of WMD's in Iraq! Here are a few quotes:

i'm sorry.....i couldnt read all those quotes..... but i do know this.... clinton & his party did not go after sadam........... bush & cheny were the ones that adamantly declared that there were weapons of mass destruction

many parties can be quoted for many words......however its always the actions that count & right now our american family is dying for a war that was really never meant to be

In 1998, the same year Clinton signed the Iraq Liberation Act, calling for regime change in Baghdad, he ordered the bombing of Iraq for four days, without any Congressional authorization. Clinton went on TV on December 16th and stated that the attacks were directed at "Iraq's nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors." Clinton said that "Saddam Hussein must not be allowed to threaten his neighbors or the world with nuclear arms, poison gas or biological weapons."

Exactly -- read above. Or, in the case of Clinton, his inaction to take into custody Osama bin Laden when the Saudi's offered him to us during his term might've negated this whole discussion.

I make a statement that I can cut you off as fast and easily in my Prius as that other guy in his beemer.

 

With regard to Rush Limbaugh's contention above, the only reason I can come up with as to why he hasn't been replaced himself in his job, a job that he amply demonstrates every second he's on the air requires neither skill nor knowledge, is that his sponsors simply haven't been able to find anyone more stupid or less skilled than what they've got , which is too bad , because considering Rush's "ditto-head" audience :blink: , were they actually able to secure someone more moronic than that self-inflated cigar-smoke filled gasbag, they'd double or triple their profit on the investment :huh: . But if Rush represents the nadir, there's comfort in knowing that the lowest of the low can be identified by name, and that anyone we meet who isn't Rush is higher up on the human plane and can't be all bad B) because what's all bad is a known entity.

The best statement that my vehicle of choice makes is that I am tired of being told what to buy by people that make what they want and have the politicians in their pockets. Screw Detroit. Screw Politicians, and screw the oil companies. Oh yeah. While we are at it. SCREW RUSH!

Our society is based on the system of capitalism is founded on giving the consumer what we want. If you build a better mousetrap, the world will beat a path to your door. Now that we have a viable option to polluting gas hogs. I made a different choice.

My money went to Tokyo instead of Detroit because I want Detroit to know I don't want the products they offer me as much as the Prius.

 

Sorry for your loss. IMO the $7000 you figure doesn't wash. If you're comparing the Prius to a conventional Civic or a Corolla, you are overlooking the following value items they lack:
roominess, especially back seat (Prius is a mid-size car, not a compact and is priced accordingly)
versatility (hatchback)
styling (makes conventional cars look like dynasaurs)
creature comforts and deluxe appointments (you know what they are)
brake linings that never wear out
electric air conditioning (sealed, no leaking shaft bushings)
all-season climate control
But the biggest turn-on for me (retired engineer) is the fact that Toyota re-engineered the automobile from the ground up. And in so doing they set a design standard which, I felt, would transform the industry and eventually bring down oil usage and dependance on foreign sources by perhaps as much as 50%.

 

I disagree! .... I think "I am" saying "look at me!" I drive a prius.. so admire and praise me!..... Not so much a statement about the environment.... but rather.... hey look at me!!!! "I drive the coolest car in the world!"...

Thats the major reason people spend big bucks on a new car "every 2 - 3 years" that runs no better than the one they just traded in just to get a later model car that Looks just a bit different than the old ones?

Although engineering cost would be much cheaper if we were not so vain..... new cars would not sell near as well at all if they looked like the older ones and were undiscernable as being new and different.

With me.. the prius is all about technology and effeciency for me.... its would not be near as much fun to drive the prius and get 50MPH if they were just using a plain old gas engine to do it.
Knowing what makes the car tick and that it is a technological wonder... makes it a blast to drive. I hope the statement is saying to all that "we don't have to be afraid of technology... its our friend"
The more people become used to the new technology and use it to thier advantage, the more "Rush Limbaugh" will have nothing to talk about.

Caring what Limbaugh thinks about Prius owners is a little like caring about what Warren Beatty thinks about chaste women.

 

That's why I don't compare the Prius to a smaller car, because it isn't a fair comparison. When I compare the Prius to a similarly equipped Camry, it's very competitive. The better fuel economy and lower emissions are the icing.
