    i had never seen one before. the first time, we were out for a walk. we were going one way, and she/he was coming the other. i was amazed at how long the feathers are when dragging behind them.

    Yeah, they can lift them up past the vertical and shake them to make a kind of hissing or rattling noise.

    i have turkeys out back that do the same, not nearly as impressive though.
