Rising gas prices to Help Hybrid/EV sales?

Gas went up here recently too -- about 20-25 cents. Besides the OPEC noises, I've also heard about some refinery repairs, but nothing specific other than it's getting harder for them to find skilled maintenance people.

 

We got down to about $1.30 last Feb_2016 in the cheapest places, so I thought $1/gal was good prediction for this year, but I got Trumped by bigger world events.

 

Doubt it - would be if it was only your country, but here too.

It was global oil output cuts due partly to OPEC re-adjusting their production to try to actually make some money. Plus, in Australia's case, the lower value of the $$.

Only this morning, the Australian Govt (ACCC) warned that prices will jump in the next few days, suggesting everyone fill up while it's low. Which I did - but it was already dearer than last week.

 

if i filled up today, it would save me 60 cents.

Up to 2.89 here today. Wait until summer blend gas hits in a few months, that's worth an extra 50 cents per gallon.

 

i always thought it was just because people drive more.

 

Just filled up last night at £1.179 per litre. That's around US$4.46 per US gallon!
Hope that is some New Year cheer for you on that side of the pond.

 

Down 'yer in the West Country I paid £1.147/ltr at Morrison's supermarket yesterday. Asda is a penny cheaper and they try to keep a standard price across the UK regions as far as I know. Would they be available to you in the Capital?
