Reverse Beeper on 2006 (more help needed)

I'll add my two cents. My 2006 Prius absolutely would not work with any of the instructions I could find. (And I tried many.) However, I fiddled around until I found out what would work. The problem I had was partly the "within 6 seconds" and the "after 10 seconds" requirements. So here's what I did (recalled from memory, so hopefully I remembered everything I did) to get mine to work:

1 - Turn the car on, make sure you're on ODO and not trip by pressing the ODO button as many times as necessary, and then turn the car off.

2 - Hold down the ODO button.

3 - Hold down the brake pedal.

4 - Turn on the car. Your ODO reading should be just dashes ticking down.

5 - Take a deep breath and pray, and then BEFORE ten seconds has passed, shift to R and back to P.

6 - It's okay to let off the brake now that you're back in park, but if you really don't want to risk it you can wait until after you've turned off the car. :lol:

7 - When you see the ODO readout on the dash stop ticking away dashes (Is that an engineer's sick joke?) and go to something like b-on then you can finally let go of the ODO.

8 - Now you can press the ODO button to switch between b-on and b-off. Yipee!

9 - Once you're happy with your new setting, turn off the car.

10 - Breathe a sigh of relief and thank the gods.

OK, now that EVERYONE else has been successful and been able to follow directions, does this same technique also work on the 2009? I've been out there fussing with it for awhile but am never getting into the b-on/off setting. I do get to the ODO countdown lines but never the b settings.

Just picked the 2009 up today and would like to deactive the reverse beeper and the seatbelt beeper, any help is appreciated!

Note that if you press the ODO button before turning on the car, you will also reset your "MAINT REQD" light -- that's what the counting-down dashes indicate.
