Hey all! First of all, thanks for your help. Wanted to give an update:
I drove it to Austin. Worst road trip I've ever taken. Details available if anyone wants them, but suffice it to say: I'm not sure it's worth the stress. Doable, but not advisable.
I went with the NiMH. But here's what I really want to emphasize: if you have the opportunity to do business in Austin, don't bother with Austin Hybrid Battery. I feel like I was intentionally misled on a number of important things. Instead, go with the guy who actually does the reconditioning and install: Peter Mark. He's a contractor, super nice guy, very knowledgable, honest. And it'll save you about $300. petermarkiam [at] gmail or 512-785-1734. :)

i dont understand; i never saw any post of some one saying ' i tried it ' -- (putting lithium batteries in place of the nimh) ...
so i have 3 blocks bad, 2 that are totally hosed with even a reverse voltage and 1 block that is just a bit lower than the delta 1.2v.

so i plan to replace a block with a 4s as shown to see how long before V gets too high on it , then going 2P of the 4S will double that time to more closely emulate the capacity of an OEM block.

CGR18650DA - Is that able to discharge at a 100 C rate? Max Prius discharge is 140 A. I can see this thing pop.

You're not serious are you? This is just a joke?

Lets assume the battery voltages displayed on your torque app are correct. The HV battery has been out of use for a while? It's showing blocks 1 and 2 as zero volts and block 4 as 12.2 volts. That means you would have 4 modules in a state of 100% discharge @ 0 volts and the 2 modules in Block 4 have what appears to probably be 2 bad cells. All the other blocks are at about 15 volts or approximately 7.5 volts per module.

The first thing I would look at, with blocks 1 and 2 being at 0 volts would be the sensor harness where it connects the ecu. Most likely you're going to find significant corrosion that caused those blocks to discharge. That's pretty much the ONLY way those 4 modules are going to actually drop to 0 volts. If it was a sensor harness problem, then block 3 should be reading abnormally high.

Block 4 either has 2 modules which each have one bad cell, or one module with 2 bad cells.

You have a serious misunderstanding if you think putting those batteries in a Prius is a good idea. It's not even good enough to be a bad idea. They'll explode the first time you try to accelerate when the battery dumps 150 amps to the transaxle....heck, they may explode just by turning on the AC, since that alone can draw 12 amps + from the HV battery.

I don't want to sound like a jerk, but I get the impression you don't have the requisite electrical knowledge to be doing what you plan to be doing. This is just so far out in left field and is a Gross Conceptual Error that could really get you or someone else hurt.

Good thorough response! (y) I was just going to say something like, "Make sure you never park it indoors because it's a fire waiting to happen." ;)

It would be fun to watch, though.

yes --- the cells are heavier than the lighter ones , (chinese ones claming 5000mah capacity, ) +){couldtn find pics i took of them} so one could have been misled to construe the heavier battery has more capacity -- in reality, whoever is marketing the 5ah red fire types (typ for flashlights) must be doing some
deceptive marketing and false labeling ...yeah , i didnt know these purple cells had such 6a low capacity, its a much 6better idI have hanging around up through 6a few 6charge cycles to get them to similar voltage of the rest 6of the pack , stick them in and see if someone can get some use out 6of this pack until another solution presents itself...
