Hold the button in for at least 5 seconds.

Well, I changed the battery and it still doesn't work. If I hit it on the counter the tiny red LED light in the top right corner flashes on and off for a while, but it's stone dead in when it comes to locking and unlocking the car. Before I changed the battery, it did function to start the car. Bear in mind this is a non SKS fob. Is all lost for this fob or do I need to reprogram it for locking/unlocking the car?

It is not about reprogramming. From what I read here, it sounds like the buttons are stuck. If pushing the buttons does not make the red LED flash, with a new battery, then taking it apart and checking for function without the buttons in place is a possibility.

You were right! I took a closer look at it and the red button was stuck. I dug at it around the edges and now all is well in key fob world again. Thank you!

I just want to add for bragging rights, this was the original battery...9+ years!
