I just found this and registered. What's with the half years? I wasn't sure if I should put down 2004.5 since I bought mine in August, but there wasn't a model change that year. However, there were a few programming changes prior to my purchase. I'm not too keen on providing my license plate #.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(DanMan32 @ Nov 21 2006, 03:37 PM) </div> I have an explanation of half-years on the page, but quite a few people still get confused by them. They're mostly for when a vehicle is heavily redesigned but given the same model year as the old design, like the 2005.5 Jetta or the 2004.5 Spectra. Most manufacturers don't do the half-year thing. The main culprits are VW/Audi, Kia, and Volvo. On the license plate, I selected the least private info through which I could, if necessary, verify that cars exist. Every time you drive the car many people see it. I know many people are still uncomfortable with it, but if I collected no potentially identifying info at all then many more people would be uncomfortable with the research. I do allow people to enter 99 if they don't know their plate number. I'm only planning to follow up and get the actual number if there's a pressing need to verify the existence of vehicles.

I'm looking forward to seeing the data. I love my Prius and want to buy another one so we'll each have one, but can't afford the second one right now.
Thanks. Still short on the 2004s. I'm seeing a low repair rate for the 2006, but a higher one for the 2005. I'm going to be following up with everyone who reported a repair to see if this is a fluke from the small sample size. I think many people are especially interested in seeing how these cars age.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(spudnique @ Mar 21 2007, 12:22 AM) </div> Thanks. Looks like this thread has become unstuck, along with some others. Clean house here recently? Anyway, next set of results in a week or so.
I posted the results in another thread about a week ago. They can also be found, along with those of other models, here: TrueDelta Vehicle Reliability Survey results
This is the last month in the current quarter--next results in August. More Prii would certainly be helpful. For the details, and to sign up to help out: Vehicle reliability research
It's looking like the results for the 2004 will be asterisked, because of an insufficient number of responses. Especially need more cars for that model year. Also still wondering where all the Gen 1 owners are.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Mad Hatter @ Jul 27 2007, 12:41 PM) </div> Thanks, I appreciate it. Still very much need more participants for all model years. The first 2008s have been enrolled, but will need far more of them. Next results in November.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(billsrule7 @ Sep 23 2007, 10:03 PM) </div> Thank you for that one as well. Number of responses so far by year: 2004: 17 2005: 39 2006: 52 2007: 41 The month isn't quite half over, so hopefully all of these will increase a bit. Since there are fewer than 25 responses for the 2004, it's looking like that year's result will get an asterisk once again. Only two 2008s enrolled so far. Very much need more.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(LoreePrius @ Oct 17 2007, 04:39 PM) </div> Thank you, I appreciate it. Seven 2008s so far. Good start, but will need more if this year is to be in the February results. 2008 models in the February results will be in the accompanying press release, as will the forums that helped get them there. I'd love to include the 2008 Prius and PriusChat, but it's going to take a couple dozen more 2008s in the next few weeks. Details here: Auto reliability research
Thanks. Just enter -1 for odometer readings until the month after you take delivery (the surveys always cover the previous month). Current counts: 2008 - 17 (good, but need more) 2007 - 68 2006 - 77 2005 - 54 2004 - 29 (still marginal) 2001-2003 - 5 Total: 250 A big thanks to Danny, the admin, and everyone who has been helping out. One additional note: I recently added a Common Auto Repairs Database to the site. The form includes a way to include a link to a relevant forum thread. So if there are a few common repairs with the Prius, entering them could help send more traffic this way. Common Auto Repairs Database (CARDb) Only about 200 repairs have been entered so far for all cars, but it'll get there.
+1 I just signed up, seems like a neat idea. I'm barely 3000 miles on my 2008 and zero problems so far, it runs like a dream. Hope it continues to do so (being a toyota I don't doubt it)
