How much do you think we could get it for as a "mechanics special"

If the car is otherwise clean (no accidents, not nasty inside) it's probably worth $1500 as is. You could list it on Craigslist for $2500 and see what happens. If you get no bites after a few days, lower the price $500, then lower again if you have to. Call Avi at HybidFix.com, maybe he'd buy it to use as a "parts car". Too bad I'm now based in Colarado, otherwise I'd come look at it...

IIRC Paul is from CA and moved to CO to go into hybrid plug-in conversion batt business (due to CO incentives structure), so he knows a lot. One approach if upgrading is a few folks have got the batt repaired at deep discount by buying a new Prius. Of course then you end up with 2 Prii.

I kind of like his idea of posting it on CL and see what I Can get from it. Having two would be great but I dont think we can afford the two in general. Right now I need as much as possible trying to sell it. Going to have it professionally cleaned in the next day or two and see if that lures anyone else.

This may not be an option.

Is the car driveable if the pack is fixed and you can borrow another car short term?

If so, buying a grid charger/reconditioner might be an option, but there is a fair amount of DIY.

I know - two or more ifs.
