I understand that everyone is jumping on this member for not presenting the facts. Making a claim that Toyota uses refurbished batteries in packs sold as new is something that every Prius owner should be aware of, if it were true. HOWEVER, it is apparent by the spelling and grammar challenged poster that he/she is incapable of expressing his/her information in a format that can be understood by those of us who have a rudimentary grasp of the English language...

Maybe he/she could send pictures of what he/she has seen that would backup the claim and forgo trying to answer with words. Otherwise, this post should be retired. It is no fun watching people have a battle of the wits with someone who is unarmed.

As I said before, I think someone needs to come in, who really knows something more definitive, one way or the other. I'm not on either side. But don't jump on the guy for his English skills, we all can't be English majors , including me..(I )

I think my post/pictures of the BRAND NEW Toyota Battery IS quite definitive. IT IS NOT A REBUILT OR RE MANUFACTURED IN ANY WAY.

WOOPS TampaPrius, I agree. And I think we should close this thread.

    TampaPrius,
Went back and read your threads again on the HV Battery, your position seems to be more logical .

Well, it might be refurbished (clean up/fix the case, test/repackage (new case/terminals/etc) the modules, new serial, etc).

Not reconditioned (swapping in used modules to replace defective/lower capacity modules), but not brand new either... IMO that's the reason the core charge is as high as it is.

From what I have been able to glean from the poster to whom you have posed this question, is that having opened up 2 battery packs that, we are to believe (on the say so of the poster), were new packs installed by a Toyota dealer and then having seen something he is not willing to divulge, caused him to confer with his "contacts" at Panasonic and Samsung who were able the confirm the modules of the said battery packs were not new. On the basis of this revelation, the poster now makes the claim that all Toyota supplied HV battery packs are not new but refurbished.

I do believe, in a nutshell, that is a succinct précis of the poster's contributions.

I further believe that we have gone as far as we can in the quest for knowledge and agree with other's sentiments to let sleeping dogs lie.

    B/C he's a nut case conspiracy theorist.

Add to the fact, he could be RICHLY REWARDED (tax free) and vindicated by all of us. Sadly he chooses not to make a simple phone call to one of the many law firms that sued Toyota, over the not too long ago sudden acceleration issue, to prove that the Toyota HV Batteries are, as he claims, used/rebuilt/refurbished.

Oh well. Thus the problem w/ conspiracy theorists: logic and reason are out the door.

while chatting on another battery replacement thread, the issue of doorman quality came up, which led me back to this one, and opened my eyes a bit.
