That's a great idea! Planning on dyno runs and gps tracking runs. The difficult part for that to be done is accurate testing due to battery charge dependent.

Do them both at full charge so that you can get an apples to apples.

so need to hook up a OBD2 to see where exactly is full charge. Then punch it.
How about running with EV to deplete the battery until ICE kicks in then floor it? This eliminates the EV output for sure.

I would just force charge it until it won't take more charge. Put the csr in drive, apply full brake and full throttle. It will spin the engine up a little and charge the HV battery.

After following this thread, I truly believe that this actuator is the magic bullet for our ICE's. I will most likely purchase one.

I'm very grateful for everyone's participation and discussion. It has been very productive discussion here thanks to everyone who is generous enough to give their opinion! I really appreciate everyone's comments, questions and critical thinking.

I recall not long ago, one of our member posted the programming of the valve to how it interfaced with the ECU.

It was eye opening of how just by doubling the speed of reaction can bring such performance benefits to the overall system. When you factor in how many checks and modulations the system will have to go through to accommodate every moment of power demand situation, a little goes a long way.

From my observation, the ECU is checking the valve position every rotation of the camshaft thus modulating the solenoid position for the optimal valve timing. Doubling reaction speed and multiplying with engine rotation speed is how many times we gain valve function efficiency, and to increase other aspects of the material is just the icing on the cake.

I believe Montgomery is very correct in regards to how the Red Bullet directly benefits the internal combustion engine on our vehicles, this also indirectly shines a path on how we can utilize EM to handle the lower power demand.
I think the main takeaway word hear is managing the use of entropy. The utilisation of gasoline work has a very distinctive entropy cut off. It's All or Nothing reaction. But if you were to demand half or less or just lower then the minimum engine energy output for burning gasoline, then the best way is to store the extra energy(entropy) and use it via a controllable pathway such as a battery and electric motor that is capable releasing the energy slowly.

I hope to get the Red Bullet to our members very soon and will constantly post on mileage Bragg's about how I am getting along.

Feel free to share this thread to other vehicles such as the Prius, Yaris, Corolla because we have different modulations for all Japanese vehicle lineup. Even Ford's too.

I'm not being mean or difficult, but Max has not owned the car for a full year yet, so he's still new to the car. With the weather warming up, every increase he's seeing to MPGs could be attributed to this. That's why I keep asking for an apples to apples comparison on the dyno. The dyno will not allow for pressure/temperature changes to dictate what the MPG readout is. Just really depends on how much time you have on the dyno.

Hi Ztanos dont feel that way at all! You bring up a good point.

I can understand your point of view, this is when my travels around the world literally comes into perspective.

We have had a average 25 degrees Celsius and above since i bought the car. We don't have the common winter here. Sub 16 degrees is considered winter in tropical country and that was 2 to 3 months ago. At the beginning of the post I did mentioned that not living in Canada for now was partially because of the cold.

I don't turn on the heater until the engine is warm, to be honest I don't use the heater at all that much since I got the car. For the 1st 2 weeks maybe on and off but I always let the engine get to operation temp before I demand heat from the system. So i don't loose economy by running the engine in static standstill.

I have had the pleasure of owning a C-Max Titanium with remote start in Canada, that puppy had 200 horse power with a hybrid system. I was able to keep up with a Ford Focus at the lights.
I know how much the heater can effect with your fuel economy in those winter days when you preheat your vehicle or even if you don't it still takes a while for that initial warn up, so you always try to use the battery before you get home, actually the car knows when its going home and switches to ev mode.
So when you do start tomorrow morning it charges the battery while warming the car at the same time so to balance the economy from last night. Anyways this does not apply in a tropical country or within the parameters of my runs with the Red Bullet.

As a note, recently temperature has gone up to 30+ in Taiwan. Night and day difference is minimal too since i don't really leave home until 9am anyways and its also hot at night too living in the Taipei basin.
I agree with you temperature has a great effect but i can assure you it dosent play a huge influence here and if it did play a roll in your area you can always not use the heater until your engine is at temperature.

I know Royston is in Singapore and I can tell you he has higher temperature then I do for any given day of the year! And his Prius C is running 22km/l.
Royston I love your country by the way, I had the pleasure of staying there for 3 months when I was young!
They have swimming pools everywhere! Its ultra safe and laws were pretty tight back in the days! My parents made sure I had no access to chewing gum for the entire trip. Royston will tell everyone why!

Anyways I "might" be switching back to OEM because I'm taking mine off the vehicle for the two lucky winners.

I met up with whom I thought was the distributor last night at his hotel lobby for 2 hours. It turned out I was speaking to the big man. So I might get a Red Bullet for just running more tests. I was actually looking forwards to go back to the OEM after the seasonal temperature was mentioned so i can get some tests with it.

Need some suggestions, to switch back to OEM or ask for another Red Bullet...
I really want to run a full tank in the city and get to post my 900km/tank on millage brags.

Hi Max. I suggest asking for another red bullet b/c documenting longevity with it in the engine is good for ensuring permanent use. Im not planning on removing mine when the temps change dramatically...it's in for good unless a problem arises or a concerning drop in mpg is found in colder seasons, more than what is the normal drop in mpg that im already use too with this car.

Good points Z...i agree testing should be done in a way that rules out those atmospheric changes and just concentrates on the part's effects. That being said...i believe Max's results over several weeks show approx a 15-20mpg increase with the bullet. I live in a 4 season area and i dont pull an increase like that, even in spring/summer. Granted my driving habits have changed for the better with this car after reading posts in here...but maybe 10mpg increase for me atm with OEM plug in those hotter months. Also, we shouldnt forget the slight increase in hp this item helps us with. If the mpg wasnt helped at all and just the slight hp applies....it's worth it for that alone since we all know that these Toys cant get out of their own way sometimes. Lol. Good points though Z and im sure the dyno test is on the table to be done at some point. (y)

I will meet with the owner surely before he leaves town to go over the basis. Fingers crossed!
I read you CSuirp! I think when i hit the 900km/ tank challenge, I'm going to go for a holiday. Not easy to beat that with 35l of gas these days. Its going to be very close i imagine. I will for sure be in the fumes zone again.

The Red Bullets will be going out within the next 48h for all. I've found a post office that opens on a Saturday to accept the shipments. Really tied up with PhD midterm assignments, Saturday will be my only window.
Sorry for the delay, I sincerely apologise and appreciate your patience, I will figure out how to overcome this situation for the future.

Looking for parking, bad traffic and OEM did this.
Maybe its just me and the psychological effect of taking out the Red Bullet. 20190426_181908.jpg I'm going to meet the owner tonight to talk about opening one and writing it off otherwise I will miss my 900km/tank challenge.

I was looking for parking and my battery was totally down to 3 bars due to there was not enough room to engage the ICE at all. I was going in circles for 10min on EM constantly.
Pulled down my overall average by 0.2 which i believe will go down to 0.4 when I finish dinner and drive away with a low battery. I am not talking about the cycle average, this is the one that takes a whole tank to build up. The 23.8km/l this cycle has decreased my overall average.
Right now sitting on 27.8km/l, 9km after the extraction. I was bouncing back and forth 28- 28.2km/l before i took out the Red Bullet.

Maybe the meeting was held at some non-descript Motel room with people wearing sunglasses and he is being questioned by a large person with a mischevious smile? After his doctors appointment, he will be back in touch with us..............

    Hi guys,

Thanks for asking. I was so busy with my midterm and also setting up the export company and getting other legal stuff sorted out. I went to the auto show in Taipei. Lots of stuff to bring to international platform. Hi CSuirp my Red Bullet will arrive tomorrow, just for the tank challenge to go through then I'll need to sit down with him to talk about numbers.

If I don't hear back from Danny(founder of PriusChat) then I'll list the Red Bullet on Ebay for purchasing which will be a bit higher price due to cost of business going through eBay but if numbers are good then I can talk to the owner about reduction.

My goal is to bring other products as great as this one to members 1st then or others depending on the situations. Like I have noticed we should have done a group buy to skip all the problems of selling things on here. But its a little too late now, we are talking about reprinting the product box so I don't need to print stickers. Branding it for international markets via my company, I already got the go ahead for putting my company on the box when I sent the 1st batch out so you will see it already branded.

So I'm the official person for international platform now, there are lots of responsibility and lots to do.

I lived in Europe for around 15 years on and off, I'm contacting my friends there to see if they would like to help me move it along so I can send them in bulk.
My plan is to fly back to Canada in the near future to see my wife and daughter. To also introduce the Red Bullet and meet distribution chains in North America.
I have also located another item that I'll show you when I receive it. Its 100% aesthetic! Very sleek which I believe everyone will love.

Sorry I've been away from here for the past bit. Nothing much to report about the OEM solenoid other then my millage is sliding and weaker felt performance.

Dyno update: CVT and dyno dilemma, we are still working it out. Not so straight forward as one may think when it comes to the CVT.
I will keep working on it. My midterm is at its peak also so I'll be catching up on my assignments, no more exams this round which is a heap off my shoulders.

I will install the Red Bullet when it arrives, I will use this opportunity to make installation photo/video for future use.
I've explained to CSuirp, the Red Bullet is like a F150 crew cab trying to fit in a spot for a compact car in the grocery store.
There is a easy way to fit it into that tight space which I will share.

That's all for now. Big Thank you to everyone who are involved! For the support and the constant impute of ideas and views.

I wish you a successful week ahead!

Your venture sounds exciting! Isn't it great when you can be apart of something so cool! Looking forward to your video regarding installation. In regards to your video, I would suggest you break it down into two sections. One section that goes into the techical aspects of what the red bullet does, various tests performed, etc. The second section would just be the installation process. That way the techno people wanting to know all the details can go into a separate video and the those who just want to know how to install can get right into it!!. Nothing is more frustrating that going to a site to learn how to fix, install or remove something and the moderator spends 30 minutes going into deep details about the item and about their knowledge and experience. Separating this keeps things simple. Describe who you are, the product, and its tests separately, then have a separate video for the install. Its a very basic marketing principle that pretty much guarantees a higher sales outcome. Just my two cents.

    I read you Montgomery!
If I should do the video myself or get a professional presentor and film editing?
I think if it were a simple installation video I could shoot it and cut it to make it look decent but to present it, I think I need to step it up a bit.
This is how it will be presented to the world for the 1st time ever.

Wow Max...so great that you're the go-to guy for international sales of the Bullet, and who knows what else may come. Very excited for you and your endeavors, you really did a great job in PriusChat bringing this item to light, monitoring it, and now carrying it through to completion with global sales!
Montgomery made a good point about the video and I concur. Time is the only issue i would image with doing both of those videos professionally, something you may not have at your leisure atm. Perhaps make that 2-part homemade video and post it on, say, your Google Photos, then share that video out to whoever needs it (very small audience that you can control who has access to). When the professional video is put together, then youtube that for the world to see. Like you alluded to, first impressions are important, and if the world sees a home-made video on youtube about the product, it will probably not be as confident a feeling to them as seeing a professional vid posted.

Keep pushing through your schooling and plans to get back to your family in Canada. (y)
