Reconditioning Experience with Hybrid Automotive's Prolong System

    When did HA decide it's not good to go down to 17v? Dang, I just got a recent warranty replacement and it goes down to 17v

    I did my most recent FullMonty just over a week ago, and I took it down to 17V just like I'd done in all the eleven (yes, 11) previous occasions! @jeff652 might be the best person to answer your question! - Good luck! ;)

    Although I have the 17v discharge setting, I have only gone down to 17v with 2 batteries. I've stopped at 84v nearly every discharge

    That’s the lowest I’ve gone even though we had the 17volt setting too;).

    Had a healthy battery, so didn’t see the need to:).

    What cars do you have left after your recent purge:whistle:?

    The quick increase is very normal when you first start charging after a discharge. In fact, my 84v discharge the other day rebounded upwards to 173v before I even hooked the charger up!

    All done! At 5:30 when I got up the screen was at 241v, meaning each of the last two volts took 4-5 hours to get in there. It's the first time I've gone to the 48 hour limit of a charge HA warns about. Unplugged it at 5:30; the car will sit in the garage until 10:00 when I have to haul a bunch of bottles and cans to the recycling center.

    Not only is the battery going to be better balanced again, it appears I recovered a couple of volts in the process. I'm hoping that's a result of breaking up a little crystallization at the lowest end discharge.

    BTW, when I fold down the back seats the Prius holds $40-50 worth of plastic bottles.

    My last 17 V discharge took around 6 - 6.5 hours to complete which works out to ~ 6500 mAh (average discharge around 1A). That was my third reconditioning. Not bad for a 10 y/o battery!

    The annoying thing is the reconditioning takes longer now.

    The week's worth of down time is inconvenient but fortunately I'm retired and we have a second car at our disposal.

    This was my fifth full reconditioning, done at 6 month intervals, with "charge and balance" only sessions done at the three month mark between them. Over that time frame the price of a new battery pack has gone down more than I paid for the Prolong system so it has already paid for itself.

    I'm a happy camper.:)

    I would be happy considering that your battery modules are recovering their lost capacity - which is why the discharge times are increasing.

    So, re-conditioning done, test drive completed and no noticeable difference. That's a good thing since I was afraid something would break. Perhaps a longer test drive will show something. TBD

    Do you guys disconnect the 12v battery at all to reset the ECU after a recondition?

    Just got back from a 50 mile test drive and all was good. The battery remained at 6 bars for most of the journey. We live on an old volcanic vent and have to climb about 600ft every time we come home. This was kicking the batteries arse, not this time, it stayed at 6 bars.
