Scrounging around the Goodyear website, I found a complete list of Assurance Fuel Max sizes and specs here: Assurance® Fuel Max® Tires | Goodyear Tires click on the link "View Tire Sizes and Specifications" halfway down the left side. The Prius size P195/65R15 seems to be the only one that comes in two different specs: S and R. Misleading. I'm perfectly happy with my S's. Interestingly the S version costs $6 more than the R version on Tire Rack. Warranties are the same: 65,000 miles. R is rated at 51psi, S at 44psi.
Funny part is, I should have said "H & S not R & S." That nerve path deficiency between fingers and brain is widespread.
You were not all that mistaken.... In simplified theoretical physics the area does not matter, but in real life situation is more complex. In winter slush lower area may have an advantage as tire would be able to push through snow and reach solid pavement . In summer larger tires / higher area would probably be better in terms of better friction . Alex
