I like the "disconnect 12v" reboot test to determine if all PiPs can be reset to SAME initial EV estimate. That constant from deep in the ECU code would be telling us what Toyota really think (or want to believe) EV range should be.

As far as performing this reboot to see a higher EV estimate that I believe will not reflect reality, I think it would easier and better to paste pieces of paper with whatever number you wish over the screens with the EV estimate.

I could still be wrong (in belief that reboot causes unrealistic EV miles estimate), but then we get to track down why rebooted PiP drives more EV efficient than the same PiP after it has gathered user data that is presumably used to make the vehicle drive more efficiently.

perhaps rebooting the computers helps them to operate more efficiently.

Hello Bisco, I was not asked about starting, the question was driving W/O a 12 V, answer is still YES.

Perhaps. On Gen 1-2-3 we had a slew of very good, analyst, programmers, technicians and real Prius hobbyist. Alas, we seem to have dwindled down to one, the original: John1701. Not in anyway detracting from Johns great site. Hobbit was really phenomenal ! Bob Wilson is still with us and I see Vincent chimes in from time to time. What is really tragic is the loss of all the theory, troubleshooting and repair techniques. All appears to have been lost with the new site, please correct me if I am wrong, hopefully. Much of the operation of the earlier generations still applies to the PIP and Prius C. So far we haven't had any major problems..............That was all a bit of wandering.

Before parking my car for a "reboot" I had a 12.4 estimate and this morning it was 13.9 I will turn on a trip computer and see if I can really get 13.9 miles out of it driving the same daily route I do (all ev exactly 12.2 miles), temp seems to be the same as yesterday. I think I will record my data and then drive the prius normally for a week and after that reboot it and see if there is a real difference.

don't forget pat wong. and we still have some great troubleshooters, britprius, 3prong paul, avi, nh7o, the list goes on, but most aren't involved with pip. hobbit and peef were perhaps most knowledgable. i think peef went to leaf, wonder what hobbit is driving?

I will definitely not forget Pat. His advice is always invaluable. He is still on PC on Gen1,2 and 3s.

Israel sounds perfect for a Hybrid. A 15.5 estimate is already very good. With your temps, a reboot may not help much. As to reboot or not to reboot? It depends on how much trouble one considers it
