IMHO, if you use your trunk much at all, that is going to get scratched
or gouged very easily. I say that because this happened to me. I was surprised how little protection these things actually provide. I ended up putting on the Toyota bumper protector.

I just bought an applique for my Blizzard Prius. The applique is applied to the bumper after spraying a solution of soapy water onto the bumper. You need a squegee to smooth out the air bubbles and press it onto the bumper. If you have applied invisible shield to your electronics it is essentially the same process. I used my invisible shield squeegee to work out the air bubbles. A tip- wrap the squeegee in an ultra microfiber cloth and wet it down with the soap water solution so as not to scratch the applique as you smooth it out.

Without reading the whole thread, I would simply state as fact that the bumper "applique" needs its own "applique" to protect it. My first 2010 had the applique, and if you move luggage in/out, and anything touches it, it gets scratched and munged up. It does its job to keep the bumper somewhat safe (paint - it will scratch more than you would even hope to think without protection).

When I got my second 2010, I specifically asked not to have the thing. I bought the "black plastic" hard thing - available on Ebay/Toyota etc. You may not like its look (I think it looks fine) - but if you move stuff from your trunk, the applique is sort of a joke. Simple to install - and align - and works wonders..... Just Ebay bumper 2010 prius... Cost delivered is around $35, and you do not need a specialist to install it (simple).
