When I bought the car, I was expecting about 50 in the city, or maybe a little less. (I always subtract about 5 or 6 mpg from what it says on the EPA estimate/window sticker.) For the last 5 months, the display and my hand calculation says I'm getting a consistent 60-61. That's fantastic. No complaints. (I only have 250 miles on my current tank. The Trip-A display says I'm getting 66-67 mpg. It's never been that high before. Could it be the new, gas-saving, Mobil "Synergy" gasoline I'm trying??? I doubt it, but I will know at the end of this tank.)
Yes... the other country! You'll probably do better once it cools off. For our gentle readers, cool is still sandal weather but with socks in California.
Would you believe I wear shorts all year 'round? Even in December, it can still be 75 on Christmas Day. I am hoping for some rain, so I can see how the Toyo tires perform, and if the MPG will change. Back to Real World MPG: Nice thread.
OK, best tank ever. Display @ 78.4 MPG and calculated @73.7 MPG. Almost got my lifetime displayed MPG to 70 - one more tank should do it.
My 10-mile daily commute to the Nature Center for my old guy walk. (Is it real, or is it Photo-shopped? )
686 miles driven Display shows: 68.7 MPG Filled tank until pump clicked off: Total of 9.9 gallons Hand calculation: 69.2 MPG Notes: City driving. PWR mode. Obeying posted speed limits. AC/defrost on due to fog. Distance-to-empty at time of refuel: 26 miles. Best MPG I've ever gotten. I think I will quit right there.
I think I played my last chip.... I'll never achieve that again! Was it just a fluke? And the 100 mile commute was just pure luck, and very light traffic early in the (foggy) morning.
I pulled over quickly, and had to get a picture of this before it went away. (I'll never see it again in my lifetime. )
Not too shabby! I was out running errands yesterday, pleased to see this on the last leg of the trip.
Although I am getting crazy numbers in EV situations. My averages are 75mpg around town and 65mpg for extended motorway driving.
my fiance and I have had our two eco for about a week now. and I know its too early to get a real accurate reading, but this is what i have been getting from my commute from home to work (60/40 freeway and city)... i am extremely happy with our new prius!
Going from a 2008 Jeep Liberty at 18MPG Average i cant get enough of this thing. Average 63.4, best 67.1
Does anybody look at or use the "from-the-flag" gizmo? I never did quite understand what it's purpose is. (It resets to zero every time you turn the car off.) I'm not concerned with the mpg while running errands, or doing little short trips. But maybe it comes in handy for work commuters who like to check daily mpg? I still prefer the overall "Trip-A" mpg figures, while burning thru a full tank.
