    The counter-question is: Some edge over what?

    Some edge over perfectly optimal braking? No, absolutely not.

    Some edge over typical, inefficient, old braking habits? Maybe, maybe not. Your mileage will vary.

    Some edge over very bad braking habits? Yes. But in this case, one might consider striving for better braking habits, rather than using B mode as a crutch.
